Didn't go to the game, but how was the tailgating on Nicholson this saturday? Were the numbers down? Did people ignore the "no parking" signs everywhere? Just curious.

yes

I didn't bother to go out but I heard the old front 9 filled up midday. I was a bit surprised since it was just sam houston but I assume the people that parked on nicholson just moved over to the old front 9

walking to Freds to watch the game, there was nobody on Nicholson between the Extension and Burbank, maybe 1/4 of what is normaly there

Just walking around campus, the numbers seemed down all over, but there was still a good crowd actually at the game. Apparently a lot of the people who typically just show up to tailgate stayed away. Hopefully it's the start of a trend.

It is hard to gage the reason the numbers were down. Reasonable chance of rain plus people tired of getting out early for shitty games could be why. Then add in the hassle of changing parking and tailgating. The first real test of the new changes will come with the miss. state game and then later in the season for the bama game. I have a feeling the bama game is going to be a clusterfrick.

Well, i also heard that traffic was still a giant clusterfrick. So their "experts" in traffic basically just reduced tailgating and fricked up traffic even more.

Of Epic Proportions
With the 10,000+ added seats and the 10,000+ parking spots taken away...
People will be parked down river road half way to lauberge. WinnDixie Parking lot will probably be full of people as well. It's gonna be BAD

Yes, let's eliminate tailgating altogether except for those that can go to the game. Stupid.
I have season tickets and I never want tailgating lessened so that a few pretentious assholes can "get home faster", yet they actually don't get home faster.

Oh is that what you heard?

“It worked. It worked exactly the way we wanted it to. Well, maybe a little bit better,” said Sgt. David Wallace, Baton Rouge police incident commander for LSU football.

Wallace said a Louisiana State Police helicopter flying over LSU’s campus clocked cars going 40 mph postgame on Nicholson, which is typically an area of gridlock.
“We have never seen it like this,” Wallace said officers in the helicopter told him. “But the only reason why it succeeded is the public is working with us and not parking on Nicholson.”

Not entirely on topic, but definitely related, I was told last night that they are planning to build a new TAF facility on the old Box site instead of a parking garage. Is that true?

The only reason it succeeded was that the game was over at half time and 2/3 of the fans had already left by the end of the game.

yeah MSU will be the true test.

What part of "we have never seen it like this" was confusing to you? This wasn't a LSU employee saying this either.

I don't know, the part where I was still sitting in a clusterfrick of a traffic situation after a game that was over not long after the coin toss? I trust my own eyes more than what I hear second hand from someone with an agenda. And make no mistake, they have a want to prove that further screwing up tailgating and parking was worth it. You say that this wasn't an LSU employee like that validates it. BRPD isn't exactly an outside party in this.

Glad you grabbed a credible 3rd party with no agenda.
