How confident are you that the defense will improve?

Was today an anomaly? Surely we are better than that on defense. Is Atlanta that good? I think that they will be the best passing offense we play all year.

I think next week gives us the perfect "get right" game. At least I hope that's the case. If we can't stop Cleveland then our defense could be in for a very long year. If today is the "norm" we could be looking at 9-7 or 8-8.

We will be much better than we were today IMO. WE had a terrible scheme with the safeties playing so far off, and when we did get pressure Ryan made great decisions quickly for the most part. I don't think that will happen all year.

Judging from the last 8 out of 9 seasons, not confident at all. Other than last year this defense has always been bad collectively.

the Dline got held often and no calls made. not saying that's how we lost, cause i'm pretty sure tackling or lack thereof had a lot to do with it, but we got held so many times it wasn't funny - and the Roddy Push Off for the TD was ridiculous also.

we will be a lot better - its just the 1st game.

Man I'm worried. 50% improvement and we still give up 300 yards. Ouch.

I agree that Ryan played an almost flawless game. It scares me that we have to play them again, as well as the Packers, Lions, hell even Dallas and Chicago. Those teams can throw it around and put up points.

We will still win 10-12 games even if our D continues to suck.

Ask after next week.

I think the Saints defense might have played a little scared of Atlanta's WR's.

I think 10 would be the max.

Well, those were with other coordinators. So far Ryan has shown that he can be a good DC for us. He gets the benefit of the doubt with me until further notice.

Today was a perfect storm of suck for our defense. I just don't see that being the norm.

It's only game 1.

2011 game 1 against GB was very similar, and look how that season played out. We will be ready for Cleveland next week.

We also finished 24th in total defense that year and gave up 14 points to Alex Smith in 90 seconds in a playoff loss..

They'll improve some.

Look, our defense may have regressed; but it didn't regress that much.

2 of our 4 true corners on our team aren't even able to realistically play in a game. Jean baptist and that Dixon/Davis guy (whatever his name is). How did we cut champ bailey? Before the last drive of regulation - the one Robinson went down on because he was scared- I was asking guys I was with who they would rather have in the game - champ or prob?

Prob is awful. He won't be in the league in 3 years.

I'm not worried about them in New Orleans. They are not a very good team, they got lucky with that Colston fumble. This loss was all on the Saints. Had we played any sort of defense we would have won.

Good thing the Saints won't be playing a top 10/ Pro Bowl QB every week.

Just worries me that we are still a funky team on the road.

Offense played more than well enough to win. I'm less worried about road game this year than last year. The defense will get better.

I don't think that's going to be any different this year.

Don't be surprised if the Browns lay the wood next week and we make JFF look like a pro bowler/ top 10 QB. The Saints know how to let rookie QBs look like seasoned vets.
