In the NFL your best players need to play well every week. Every team has weaknesses so you cant blame losses on say the corners for example. But our DL is supposed to be a strength of this team and they absolutely did nothing today against a mediocre OL with a 3rd string LT for most of the game.

I don't think they got to Ryan much. He always found a way out of the pressure

I agree. The DL was horrendous. We couldn't even pass rush against their 3rd string LT.... Sad really. Honestly the secondary looked really lost as well. In b4 2012 defense.

I agree about him escaping pressure. We would have had a number of sacks on other QBs, but Ryan turned into Tarketon or somebody. Hate to give him his props, but he earned it.

Ryan made a ton of plays either escaping pressure, or with pressure in his face.

The problem was Rob Ryan. Too many 3 man rushes, db's playing way too deep, mlb's covering Hester and Douglas. It looked like Ryan watched some Gregg Williams film and said, "let's do that".

FIFY. Otherwise, dead on.

If I didn't see him (once) I wouldn't have known Cam Jordan played. Our big names were irrelevant in this game. Barely heard Kenny and Cams names called.

That's not Vaccaro's fault. Rob Ryan had him lined up in Buckhead most of the day.

What was really frustrating is that we ran no stunts, no twists, no games--just rushed 3 or 4 straight up mano-a-mano, and except for the one Tyrunn Walker sack our guys lost every time (or Ryan was able to get out of the little trouble our D linemen caused with his legs). We did nothing to confuse their offensive line. Not only did Rob Ryan come up with stupid coverage schemes (cover 0 with Julio Jones being left 1-1 with Robinson, then cover 2 with the safeties playing so far back it was a useless adjustment), but he and his staff didn't do anything with the front 7 to throw Atlanta off its game. This game plan was vintage Spags. I thought Ryan was better than that.

I don't think Spags did a whole lot of 3 man rushes. That was Gregg Williams thing. Rush 3, drop 8 into zone.

Everyone forgot this because of how good the defense was last year, but Ryan has coached exactly two good defensive seasons in his career, and that's including last year. It was one of the reasons many people questioned hiring him.

Yeah, I know there always were some question marks about Ryan, but he seemed like such a mad genius last year that I had come to expect more from him.

anything less than 5 sacks is a win for Falcosn Oline. They are not very good
