SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge on Wednesday (Aug. 28) finalized the order striking part of Utah’s bigamy law and gave one more victory to the family from the TLC television show “Sister Wives.” The long legal battle over polygamy in Utah now appears headed to the appeals courts. Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes has said he would appeal the federal court ruling that found the law against polygamy was unconstitutional.

For a guy who is against premarital sex (what a laugh) you sure worry about who consenting adults want to marry an awful lot.

Make up your mind.

Leave kids and animals out of it.

Why anyone would want to marry more than one person is nuts. However, if they're into that sort of pain who cares. Ha

I support. It's completely unfair to polygamists that the gays broke ahead of them in the civil rights line.

I don't think it can be now that the door has been opened wide by the gay marriage position. That's why I posted the question.

You're thinking of the typical case of a man marrying two or three women (If you're Muslim, it's 4). But the term has no limits.

Five men can marry 7 women. Why not 24 men marrying 113 women? Eventually you can get to the entire population of La. entering into lawfully wedded bliss with the entire state of Alabama.

Marriage shouldn't be defined by government, but by individuals. The only regulations on marriage the government should have in place are laws that protect children from being married. A person 18 or older should be able to marry any person over 18 and how ever many people they would like as long its consensual.

It is currently legal in all states for people under 18 to get married.

But because of the complications of the coming convoluted definitions of marriage, it will be necessary for government to establish rules to deal with the impending fallout of things like divorce, inheritance, child custody, etc.

why not?

that's possible, but very unlikely. If polygamy becomes legal that doesn't mean every person will begin marrying multiple people. I believe polygamous marriages would be rare even if it was legal. Most people find polygamy undesirable and the changing of government regulations isn't going change the morality of society.

I long for the day when serial pedophiles have the same rights as everyone else. Social justice for all!
