Unlike previous years, this team dismantled an inferior opponent early on. Thing that hits me is hungry youngsters........a lot of kids having something to prove and they played more inspired.

I said it last night when SH was about to score that we needed a turnover so they couldn't put 3 on the board and our guys came through.

many of them in the past weren't dominant from the start, the score would be like 10-7 in the 2nd quarter with LSU having bad penalties and a couple of punts. They may have ended up 42-7, but weren't complete games...

Next week will be a bigger test with respect to focus from start to end. This was sort of a coming out party, the grind starts now.

The UAB game last year was a demolition in the 1Q

Exactly.....Towson comes to mind.

It's not about the final score but putting it away early for meaningful reps to the backups.

But leave it to the shortsighted here to not understand......

"Dismantled" isn't the right word then. Oh, and nice edit.

That you were wrong. You said this:

and you have to go as far back as last year too see the same thing vs UAB in the exact same situation

I agree. While the scores of past games may have been similar it just seemed like we were fired up to play. There wasn't the usual second and third quarter funk where the entire team looks uninterested.

Don't think that's what he means. Yes, we've always won against those teams, but how many times was the game sloppy, far closer than it should have been in the first half, and littered with uninspired /lethargical play. These guys played a pretty clean game and put their foot on the gas from start to finish. Didn't see the lack of first half focus against lesser opponents I've seen in the past. Near future of this team looks very bright.

I did add the early because that was the original intent.....that context was on me.

Bruh, you know what he means. There have been times where we didn't play our best against teams like this or let them hang around before we pull away.

Les said it himself last year that it's hard to get guys motivated for games like this. Last night they were great from start to finish. That's all the OP is trying to say.

All of those games plus the ones I listed we dominated early on. This is a made up narrative by Miles bashers that seems to have stuck. I know you aren't a Miles basher, so I'm just trying to help you out
