My reasoning is all football, but hell that's what drives conference realignment anyway.

With a 4 team playoff, 5 power conferences doesn't really work. Eventually someone is gonna bitch that their champ got left out.

Well, the B1G is sooooo weak right now. It's kind of sad.

Top B1G programs have no chance unless they schedule and beat top teams from the SEC/Pac/BigXII/ACC regularly.

The Big XII benefits by getting a conference title game back (maybe they don't want it, but someone will complain that the Big XII champ plays 1 less game than the other playoff teams)

I know it's a longshot and 100% crazy notion, but it kind of sounds possible.

tOSU, Michigan, Michigan State, and Nebraska could go to the Big XII. If they wanted to get to 16 they could add Wisconsin and Penn State as well. Or if they wanted to get risky, add only one of those two and add ND (who will eventually be told to join a Power 4/5 or forget about the playoffs).

The Big XII would have Michigan, ND, tOSU, Texas, Nebraska, and OU. They'd have to be enticed by that, and those B1G programs and maybe ND would realize that is their best chance at consistently making the playoffs. Yes, it's a much tougher conference that way, but you're not gonna get in with the way the B1G currently looks.

Meh, this is a hilariously stupid idea. I know. Whatever, typed it up might as well post it. May or may not check this thread again.

I wonder what that would be like.

I was actually coming here to post the same thing, I think the big 10 is really going down hill and will not be able to keep up with the other leagues in football.

Nebraska should go back as soon as they hire their new coach, Mack Brown.

at this point the B1G is just the MAC with 100,000 capacity stadiums.

No way on earth would Nebraska ever move back and no way Nebraska wants to. That bridge has been burned even before Nebraska left.

If I was the grand poobah of college football I would move a school from NC and a school from VA to the SEC, then move the best eastern teams from the B1G to the ACC, then move the best of the western B1G teams to the Big XII, and move Indiana and Purdue to that basketball only league that Bradley and those schools play in.

None of that will ever happen because each school looks out for itself and nobody could ever have that kind of authority.

And deal with Texas again? I doubt it.
