Looking for something under $300 preferably. Me and my finance are moving into a place and this would be my first mower purchase. I hear good things about troy-bilt and I like the honda engine. Reviews seem good too.

How big is the lot you have to cut. Yes, honda make a good motor but i went with the B&S with self-propelled. I'd been having my Troy for about 7 years now.

It's a decent size. Two big trees in the lawn with a patio deck. I wanna go with a Honda motor but the Honda mowers themselves get pricey. Was hoping to keep this under $300.

I have the exact mower for the small parts of my yard. Also have cut 3 ft grown up grass at a friend's rent house. Other than emptying the bag every 5 minutes, that thing trucked through that shite and never struggled. Only been having it for 2 years but I haven't had a problem with anything. Cranks on first pull and all.

I've got a Lawn Boy with a Kohler motor and rear wheel drive for the patch of grass (maybe 10,000 square feet or so) at my camp. It was around $220 at Home Depot.

No complaints at all after three years. Always starts on the first crank. Just sharpened the blade on it this morning.

Do you honestly think you will bag your grass? If jot get a basic lawnmower. Bagging sucks, get a mulcher.

Whatever you do, get self propelled.

I've had nothing but good experiences with every Kohler I've had. Honda too.

Tecumseh not so much.

My Kohler engine (Toro mower) is in the shop for the 3rd time this summer. The mechanic @ Ace on Highland said that's all he's worked for the last year.

Got a Toro in 2003 when I moved to my current home. Not a single issue with it. Still starts right up. Several of my neighbors also have Toros and they like theirs just as well.

Self-propelled Toro is the tits. I bought mine in March of 2011. It starts first pull every time and have had zero problems with it in three years of weekly mowing 7 months out of the year.

For some reason, I am having bad luck with them. I have had two of the $599 Home depot jobs. Both of them have eventually failed with the self propelled system. I have repaired and repaired. I am going to try the 30" troy built next year. I am tired of repairing the Hondas.

Maybe just bad luck on my part but I have had issues with the carbs too. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace but they have both went bad at some point
