Over the past few months my dog has lost about five pounds. I think most of it is because he was under a lot of stress/ dealing with change between moving and staying with my mom for 2 weeks.

Anyway, I would like for him to put back on those five pounds, plus another five. I have been trying different methods like adding chicken broth to his meal (he just picks out the meat if I mix it in with his food). Does anyone have any advice? He gets a ton of exercise but sometimes he won't even eat for a few hours after a long run. He mainly likes to eat late at night or early morning when he wakes up. TIA

It's really easy as hell. Get you a few pounds of lean ground beef and cook it up. Add that to his dry kibble as a mixer. He'll go insane. If he doesn't start eating more and increasing in weight, take him to the vet because something else is probably going on.

I'm sure he will go back to eating. He's likely just stressed out right now cause of the changes.

Try offering treats as well.

You can get probiotic packets from the vet and sprinkle it over their food. Shits like catnip for dogs.

Starve him for a few days.

From then on every time he sees food he'll eat every last drop.

Low sodium broth. Pour it over his food.

I've been doing this. Works better than adding meat because he just picks it out and leaves his dog food. I may try those protein bars

My dog has been eating a lot less this summer. Talked to the vet, sounds like it's more of a heat issue. She doesn't appear to be losing weight, but she'll skip a meal here and there.

I think this probably has a lot to do with it. My apartment only has one window unit in the bedroom so I picked up a decent fan last week

im guessing youre giving him a shitty food, quality dog foods provide more nutrition and your dog will have to eat less to keep the same weight on

I have the most high strung dog. She's sweet and friendly when my wife is home, but she's angry and miserable when my wife is at work...and she'll spend most of her time in the corner glaring an me or anyone in the house or she'll stare out the front window. My dog will go on hunger strikes until my wife returns.

Last time my wife went to Pittsburgh for business for a week, I had to mix in ground beef with my dog's food to encourage her to eat more. I finally found this disgusting fish flavored canned food that she devours regardless of her stress level.

My wife swears that the dog acts just as crazy when I'm gone.
