I'm not sure I think they should be a destination any time soon. There was talk of moving their NBA franchise for a while. I'd look other places if I were the MLS.

That was mainly because the previous owners were terrible. The fan support was fine for the most part and the new arena they are building looks incredible.

I'm hoping we see more pop up in the South East.

I think that's my biggest reason. There are a bunch of West Coast clubs. I want to see a team in the Gulf Coast states so I have a proper team. Jesters just aren't cutting it in that league for me.

Yeah unless a team pops up in somewhere closer to Memphis I am probably gonna go all in on the new Atlanta team.

So I was browsing some sites to read about maybe why the Southeast seems to be getting ignored in the expansion talks and one of the reasons I kept seeing was the lack of college soccer at SEC schools. I can't really wrap my new soccer brain around why that would be an issue.

I dunno, Sacramento has drawn very well. They seem to be on board with the team. In fact, they have a higher attendance than Chivas USA and playing in a smaller stadium in a lower division.

My hope is that Sacramento gets a team and then they allow the new owner of Chivas to relocate them, but that isn't very likely...

Yesterday, Sacramento Republic FC released plans for new MLS-ready stadium and have apparently acquired land for it downtown. Today MLS execs flew in for a 2-day visit.

The thing that makes me think Sacramento won't be the choice is that they said they wouldn't spend tax dollars on it. I could see it going to San Antonio, instead.

I just hope after the 24th team, that they hold off on the expansion for a while. They are getting dangerously close to over-saturating the talent.

In my ideal world 24 teams would be tops and we would have a promotion/relegation system.

Will never happen. You can't expect people to front 100 million dollars for an expansion team if said team has a chance of getting relegated.

Why don't they just move Chivas to Sacramento and rebrand?

Does Sacramento winning the USLPro championship help their case?

MLS eventually has to cap its number of teams. Over-expansion can oversaturate the talent really fast.

I know that it may not be glamourous, but some of these potential franchises should probably look into the NASL, particularly the southeast where soccer's imprint isn't that big. I would love a NASL team in NOLA.
