I'm off tomorrow to do some gator hunting.
Saturday is LSU's first home game... always a good tailgate,
butttttt they are giving 0-1's with 5 mph winds Saturday and 40% rain in the afternoon. Perfect for a mangrove, speck trip to cocodrie.

I was at the game last week, so i did get a little bit of tailgating out of me, but it was nothing like the first home game will be...

What to do?

Fish aren't biting right now. Enjoy some football and teal season for the next month and half before the fishing turns on again.

if it's a good football game and bad fishing/hunting, maybe go with football. if they're equal though, i always go with fishing/hunting and listen on the radio. if you can sneak in both in the same day though, that's the real way to go.

Caught a 120 specks 2 weeks ago by the island. and they were a good bit inland too.....

I like the fish and just listen on the radio option, or maybe catch the game at the Harbor Light/ CoCo marina.

Fishing + radio

I don't get very excited for amateur football so Saturdays are always free. Sunday is a different story.

Only 12-15 games a year.

That leaves 350 days to fish during the rest of the year. Also, you can always fish the morning of the games.

However, I bring my radio to the stand during hunting season.

That used to be a tough call, it's funny how priorities change over the years.

It'll be cooler on my boat, chance of catching fish is way better, and I get to hear Mr. Jimmy "Accurate" Hawthorne describe the game via some miracle called radio of which the science, I don't understand it.... it's just my job 5 days a week...

but half my crew has a new job and has been silent so far this week, so who knows?

either way

If I can get enough done tomorrow at work, I'm southbound for sure. Good tide range, low(projected) winds, plus I need some freezer shrimp. I'll worry about the rain if/when it comes.
