I'm applying for a Sales Executive position and need help writing my Summary Statement on my resume.

Do I want to come off as an over-achiever even if I have excelled at my current position? I don't want them to think "Oh this guy thinks his shite doesn't stink" but I do want to impress them with the Summary.

Any specific Sales examples you can point me to?

I would think you'd want to seem like an overachiever in sales. No reason to hide it if your results back it up.

Don't over analyze it. Most people don't read general summaries, and they can be dropped off your resume without hurting you.

When reviewing resumes I look at past positions and the bullet items under the positions. That's the meat of the resume and it's going to tell me if you're a good fit. This is what you need to focus on.

Use google, there are thousands of great examples with much stylistic variation. You know what you can do for the employer better than anyone, so write it based on what you think makes you desirable to them; I.e., what they are looking for.

Sales is relationships -- built through listening, then responding with articulation -- the degree to which each is needed depends upon the sales cycle of the product or service.

Many people approach résumés as if they should tell some stranger what you have done. In reality, the stranger is often trying to figure out what you can do going forward.

Yes. Be confident without being cocky.

Be very clear about your expertise. Back it up with results, awards, etc. Bulletize this.

Are summaries and objectives really important on a resume? I've been wondering about this recently.

I've always left that off my resume. Just experience and school details.
