Suggestions on a heart rate monitor???

As long as it functions well, any type will do: wristwatch/heart rate monitor combo, arm band with blue tooth to iphone, etc. Just looking for one that works well.

Appreciate the advice fellas.

I have a Polar FT4. It's a watch with a chest strap. It has served me well as it is user friendly and effective.

Any problems with the chest strap moving around as you run or chaffing under your arms?

I just checked what mine is. Suunto M2. I've never had problems with the chest strap moving, even when doing plyometric workouts.

Would also like to hear people's experience with the optical heart rate monitors. I hate the chest strap ones.

Anyone have the Tomtom Runner Cardio?

Interesting. Seems like it would be more convenient just to glance down at a watch, rather than running/exercising with your phone in hand.

Am I missing something here?

Wife uses a Polar H7 Bluetooth one. It's the chest strap type, and links with her Phone/MyFitnessPal. It calls out your heart rate and zones during exercise, so you could keep it in pocket/armband/whatever.

ANT+ sucks.

it became a standard at the wrong time..before smartphones were taking over the world.

i'll never integrate my garmin 500, powertap, wireless speed sensor and HR monitor with my phone now

would make training so much easier not having to worry about losing the USB cable or being near my computer with the shitty garmin drivers on it..or having to wait hours (sometimes days) to get back from a race and actually get a chance to upload

I have the polar FT7 with chest strap. The strap does not move at all while I workout or run. Very easy to use.

I have one too and I don't have any issues with the strap.

Nope, no problems at all. The chest strap is actually quite comfortable. It doesn't move around and it doesn't chafe. Sometimes I forget that I'm wearing it.

I have Scoshe RHYTHM Smart. Love it. However it only transmits to the connected device, not to the monitor on your exercise equipment.

I wish mine did this. I run on a treadmill and the 75 year old, one row back and three treadmills over, thinks he's about to stroke out because his heart rate reads 192.
