And I am struck by how much more sympathetic I am to Skyler White this go around. I thought she was an unreasonable bitch the first go around but for some reason I view her completely differently watching again.

And watching again confirms that Hank and Ehrmantraut are my favorite characters on the show. I also believe them to be the most all-around intelligent; even above Walt and Gus.

Anyone else had changes in opinions after watching this show through again?

She obviously does some super bitchy things (cheating on her husband, first and foremost), but I mean honestly if this wasn't a TV show and was real life...how should she supposed to be acting? With all the information she has and what she's dealing with, with 2 kids mind you, what is she supposed to do? She's a beyotch because her husband put her in an incredible awful situation. I certainly don't blame her for that.

When she fricks Ted I think it was merely her acting out based on her life being flipped upside down and not feeling like she can go to anyone and confide. The one person she does confide in, her attorney, berates her.

The part that still pisses me off is when she rubs it in Walt's face:

The reason she does it is because she wants the divorce and he won't give it to her... She is trying to drive him away and nothing thus far had worked.

I am rewatching the series as well. One thing I've noticed is how dark Walt is from the start. The first time watching I thought it grew gradually and at the beginning he was completely pure. Watching a second time shows me otherwise. Right off the bat he's dark.

His bitterness towards Gray Matter mixed with his anger at life over the cancer causes him to be very dark from the get go.

I'm noticing that more this go around as well.

Seriously? Both Walt and Skyler signed up for one thing, and they both got another.

He signed up for a beautiful woman, a nurturing mother, and a faithful wife. She broke that vow and had sex with someone else.

She signed up for a high school chemistry teacher that would mold and shape the minds of youth through knowledge at $44000 a year, a loving father, and an honorable man. He broke that vow and became a druglord and a murderer in the underground world.

Yeah. I can see where you are coming from. She's really a bitch.

I don't completely agree with that, because when he finally does give her what she wants (signs the divorce papers), she doesn't go through with it. It was a power play on her part and when she got it, she ended up being all talk.

This.

I do think Skyler suffered a bit from enjoying the money that she feels hypocritical at times but I never hated her.

Just because she doesn't go through with it doesn't mean it isn't the initial reason she did it and told him. You can do something because you think it is what you want and upon actually getting it, regret it and back out.

And I respectfully disagree with anyone that says it isn't, because the timing of her initially fricking Ted is right after he forced his way into the house and the cops said that they couldn't make him leave... She finishes that scene with "Well you got what you wanted"

When she tells him about the affair, everything is smooth and he is playing home maker, cooking for the two boys, trying to get things back to normal, and she quietly whipsers that she fricked Ted.

That's because she was a hypocritical money grubbing whore. When the cards were turned she couldn't give up the cash.

The hate for her was always nothing more than adolescent misogyny. In real life, nobody would be cheering on a person like Walt if they were friends with that family. They would be cursing him for a monster. Since it's TV, though, we get all of this "Team Walt" stuff, even though Hank is CLEARLY the person you would be pulling for in real life.

Bull shite

Do you even understand the show?

There's a massive easter egg that represents this "Grey Matter"

Every single situation in life is grey, there is no black and white. Everything is subjective.

Right. And in real life, you might feel bad for Walt having gotten cancer but you wouldn't use that to not only condone but actively cheer his outlaw behavior. That would be the grey area - "I feel bad for the guy, but that's no excuse".

Thats why I think the show is so well done. You go from liking to hating to liking, etc... almost every character on the show.

That's nowhere near true, at least with me. There are numerous examples of Skylar sucking on the show, and none of them have anything to do with misogyny.

Also, people "cheering for" Walter would also admit that he is a crazy monster. It's not a black and white issue...there's always some gray with just about everything on the show. You love Walt, then you hate him, and back and forth. That's one reason the show was so great...they made you like a completely unlikable guy. But liking him sometimes doesn't mean that you don't think he's a monster.
