Looks like Textra got even better

The latest update is awesome so update if you haven't . It has the flat look of the Android L design.

grabbing it now..just noticed its asking to be updated.
i'm really torn..i love textra but i *WANT* to love hangouts.
i tried again to make hangouts my only texting app but again, i'm back to textra reluctantly.

Better than Hello SMS? I really like the tabbed messaging, and it's got a more L inspired minimalist look as well.

Looks like Textra almost completely stole the QKSMS layout. It is nearly identical.

This. And the QKSMS Dev has talked about it on Reddit. I'm not sure how much of it is Material Design though and how much is copying QKSMS

I wish Hangouts would allow Quick Reply and SMS/MMS from Google Chrome on Desktop/Laptops. Also updating to Material Design early would be nice

they're not that similar.
so the skin looks the same so what? textra dev is right..its the new material design standard they're adopting.
qksms can bitch all they want but you can't steal a UI thats following the standards google is encouraging.

One thing I don't like is they took away the personalizing of the colors depending on who you were texting. It's the same color for all people without the option of changing.

Is anybody else having trouble with the adding of emoticons and attachments? Whenever I push the + button it just pulls up the keyboard.

its changed. the gif option is now a tiny little colored document above the keyboard.
