OT Plumbers - Toilet Issues
Posted on 9/4/14 at 7:37 am

Saturday evening after we got some heavy rain we noticed both of our toilets were not draining properly when flushed. The water would rise to the rim of the toilet after flushing and slowly drain back down. I had read before that toilets sometimes do this after heavy rains so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. We wake up the next morning and everything was back to normal with both toilets flushing properly. Fast forward to last night and I'm having the same issue, but with only one of the toilets. The other flushed like it's supposed to. I wake up this morning and it's back to flushing properly again. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

An actual septic tank or a filter bed system?
The only way a hard rain would do that is if it was a filter bed type system.

I had that issue in Kenilworth.
It was from the city's drains being backed up when it would rain hard.

When was the last time you had it pumped?

Septic tank with drain going out to front ditch

If you have a septic tank that is cracked then that could allow water in your tank to fill up and push back water/waste into your pipes.

You may need to have it serviced

When you say serviced, do you mean pumped?

Tell your wife to stop flushing tampons.
You may have a stoppage along the line that let's the water seep through. Or like Morningwood said it may need to be pumped out.

I hate septic tanks personally.
