I know how Joe feels.
When I was looking for a job at thw bottom of the economy (early 2010), I was advised to drop the PhD from my resume.

The struggle is real.

I'm calling bullshite. On the whole story. There aren't 100 jobs per day in one area that one person would be qualified for. Also companies have quotas to meet for diversity and he would be a prize. So it's now Latinos and blacks that are discriminated against?

I was looking for a job hard core for months and nothing. I changed "Office Manager" to "Office Overlord" and got 3 calls for interviews the next day. Only one mentioned it. I never knew if the others were just a fluke or appreciated my frustration.

I never thought of that but all of the software companies use to weed out applicants can be considered Disparate impact which is illegal under the law. If this article is true than it could lead to a lawsuit if proven.

I think the law is bullshite myself but there are several legal precedents on the issue.

Racism is racist because all things racist are racism based. After all, racism is racist at its core so racism is the ultimate racist expression of racism.

Black parents have told me they specifically named their children "normal" names so they won't be discriminated against on job applications. I applaud them for the forward thinking regarding the success of their children.

Do you think in Mexico Joe would add an 's' to his name so resumes would pour in?

You're going off what he says he did and that he wasn't applying for jobs above his skill level with no proof.

Like I said in the part of my post that you happened to ignore, companies have a quota to meet relative to race/ethnicity (mine included) black/Latino/women have a greater than average chance of being hired.

Me too. Took me 6 months to find a job and I applied literally everywhere (including McDonalds) to get cash flow. I assume it's because I'm Italian. How do I file a buzzfeed story and get pub?

There was already a study done on having a ethnic sounding name vs having a white sounding name. People knew about the name bias stuff already LINK

If you're a minority you should pursue law. Despite your commonplace middle class background you'll get a huge scholarship at a school above your LSAT range plus you'll be a minority hire at a firm.

Would be the tits
