I've heard the only real solution is to replace the carpet, padding and sanding and sealing the subfloor. That is if it's a bad case on a lot of the carpet.
That's our issue. Is there any one service that does it all. We originally had Home Depot put in our carpet and padding but will they also sand and seal the flooring?

Rub wet dog crap all over that spot. You won't smell cat pee anymore....

Home remedy- Water and vinegar. Sprinkle with baking soda once that dries.

There are also commercial products sold at Petsmart that will help

I once pulled the carpet, then just dumped baking soda on the spot...new pad, new carpet, smell gone...

Don't put the pussy on a pedestal.

Cat pisses in house = not an inside cat

To get rid of cat urine in the carpet my great, great grandma would take all the kittens she had and put them into a bag and throw them in the river.

True story.

Clean and or replace carpet. Clean and or replace padding beneath carpet. Clean flooring beneath pad and carpet. Only way I know to remove cat piss smell. Use a good heavy duty cleaner in the floor. Tha stuff permeates everything. Cleaning just the carpet is a waste of time.

I would never ever have a animal in my house. They are not made to be inside.

Honestly, if it's just a spot, mash some baking soda into the wet spot, let it sit, pat it down if it's extremely moist (that's what she said), then vacuum over the spot.

Repeat as necessary.

get rid of the fricking carpet and put in tile or hardwood, you might get lucky and find out there is hard wood under there already. also, get rid of cat. cats don't give a frick about you, why should you give a frick about them?

OP, if you can pull up the carpet, bleach will get the smell out of the slab. If cat can smell it even a hint he will pee there again.

Clean up as much as you can with HOT water and soap. Use Windex (yes Windex) to neutralize the spot. Don't worry, Windex will not discolor the carpet.

I did this all the time when my (now deceased) cat had his issues.
