The best anti-ageing technique could be standing, scientists believe, after discovering that spending time on two feet protects DNA.

A study found that too much sitting down shortens telomeres. Short telomeres have been linked to premature ageing, disease, and early death.

Taking part in more exercise did not have an impact on telomere length.

"We hypothesize that a reduction in sitting time is of greater importance than an increase in exercise time."

Yea, it's like saying that breathing prolongs cell lifespan.

You know, since not breathing can result in DNA damage and stuff and things.

Sort of germans. Many studies have shown that standing reduces risk of several diseases. And yes they have controlled for factors like obesity.

Just another way our jobs and lifestyles are feeding the pharma industrial matrix.

So even though my profession is known for back and kidney issues(they even have a term called nurse's bladder)....at least all that time on my feet will be the key to longer life

Nurse, I'll be honest. I've been in a mobile capacity most of my professional life. I've had a desk job since '06. I recently started standing/sitting at work and the difference is indescribable from remaining sedentary. Never realized how bad sitting is till I started standing.
