Chips movie coming

When I was real little - they actually filmed a Chips scene near our house...and yes, I had a battery-operated Chips tri-cycle.
But you can't go home again...nobody wants to see a movie glorify freakin' Highway Patrol officers in today's climate.
Unless they make it really goofy and not unlike the TV show...(which played it straight and treated every highway ticket as a moral lesson)
Still the best disco opening in TV history.

I'm sure the will take the 21 Jump Street approach and make it a goofy comedy.

I met Ponch a couple years back during the Baker to Vegas race which is a long race between police squads. Some of the cops were having a loud party and I asked him if he wanted me to quiet them down and he said "no man, they're cops too". I'm pretty sure he thinks the show was real.
