Long time fan and occasional contributor here looking for restaurant/ grocery advice as I move to a new city. I've lived in Baton Rouge my entire life and just moved this weekend to the Carrollton area of uptown New Orleans. Any recommendations on what to eat in the hood?

Been here once already, one of the best meals of my life

Boucherie is one of my favorite restaurants. Great atmosphere, reasonably priced, and delicious food made from high quality ingredients; you can dine there with friends or have a date night there.
Their new location (next to Lebanon's Cafe where the old Cafe Granada was) will be up and running on September 9th .

Carrollton in the Riverbend or Carrollton near City Park? Two different areas, each with its own food charms.

That's the truth. Whatever you're in the mood for, it's in the neighborhood. My favorites:
Lebanon
Little Tokyo for cheap ramen and shitty sake (bonus karaoke rooms, if you're into that kind of thing)
Chiba for good sake
Ba Chi Canteen (lemongrass wings with kimchi fries )
Boucherie
Dante's Kitchen
Cooter Browns (Snooty Cooter is Maven approved)
Satsuma
Cow Bell
I'm sure there are more I'm missing.
Robert's grocery is expensive and we only use it when we have to.

Do want.

Wasn't impressed with the wings. They were grossly overcooked. They sure do get a lot of love on here though.

Most people in here seem to have gotten it, but near the riverbend. Past the Claiborne intersection

They are definitely hit or miss. I've had them a couple times and they were way overcooked. Other times I've had them and they've been perfect.

Ba Chi is awesome. Get the limeade jasmine iced tea . Everything I had there a week & a half ago was great. Except some guy was reading GoT all by his lonesome at a table in the middle of a loud restaurant. I considered telling him I read all 5 books but didn't want to risk being called a nerd/weird.

Congratulations. New Orleans is truly unique place that will always have a special place in my heart.
One great thing about New Orleans is that you can get to any part of town in a matter of minutes, so really make sure and don't limit yourself just to the Carrollton area.
That said, as far as grocery stores:
Rouses
Whole Foods
Langenstein's
Fresh Market
Robert
Just off the top of my head, these are all very close to your area.
