Yes they are
I'll never forget the first time I ate them. The lady told me, "Son, just eat it. Shell and all." I looked at her like she was crazy. Damn near changed my life. Freaking delicious.

Never heard of fried peanuts. But I want some.

I have never had fried peanuts, and had tried boiled peanuts for the first time in my life last year (love that shite).
Tried the canned boiled peanuts after eating some my buddy did, and the canned ones are no bueno.

However you choose to season and boil them, do it in bulk. As in get a 20-30 lb bag of green peanuts and cook them in 1-2 batches in the biggest boiling pot you have.
Fill gallon bags and freeze what you cannot eat in a few days. Nothing beats boiled peanuts anytime you want. When thawed, they taste like they were just boiled.

I've never even thought about this, but after reading this thread, I'm inspired to try

I boil 10 lbs. every weekend of football season.
10 lbs. green peanuts put in large pot (crawfish pot). Cover with water, add 1lb. dry shrimp or crawfish boil seasoning, 1 lb. of salt and bring to roaring boil, then turn down to just a simmer. Leave it like this for at least 3 hrs.,4 is sometimes better, be sure to add water as needed....(side note I do this on Fri. evening to take to the game on Sat.) after boiling for 3/4 hrs. turn off and let soak overnight. In the morning bring back to boil then turn off soak for a while, drain and poor into cooler. Warm boiled peanuts for several hrs. Left over peanuts can be frozen in zip-lock bags for up to a year. I've been doing this for several years and everybody seems to like them...enjoy!!
Gonna do my first batch of the year this Fri.

This is prime time to be boiling peanuts. Farms will have them until around Halloween, at the latest.
When the weather finally turns a bit cooler, I'll pick up two sacks of cleaned goobers at $30 each and spend a Saturday boiling in a crawfish pot.
Time to start cleaning out the deep freeze.

freeze them in ziplocks and safe. Heat in warm water or microwave later. Come on cool weather

I've been boiling them in a pressure cooker. Takes only 45 minutes at 15 psi. Turn off the heat after 45 min and let them cool down for about 30 minutes. They are just right. I can only do 4 lbs at a time (cover with about 3 qts of brine) but that's enough to last the weekend for the wifey and I.
If you used a big canning pressure cooker you could make a larger batch. Much, much faster than boiling in crawfish pot at normal pressure.

Where is the best place to get green peanuts? I'd assume I can find them at the grocery store?
Posted on 9/3/14 at 2:12 pm to Thurber
Just about any fresh produce store.
Last I bought were 2 bucks a pound.
Get the jumbos.
