Uptown Messenger article with gameday activities map

As an interested citizen and college football fan its my duty to check things out Saturday. I will bring travel drinks and either 1) ride bike from downtown, 2) catch Magazine bus and walk from Audubon, or 3) catch streetcar.

Anyone have a tailgating spot or good setup? Also my crew is too old for the Boot/Palms pregame combo but we also won't mind any nice scenery.

There is no streetcar anywhere near the stadium.

Take the Claiborne bus and get off near Calhoun.

The Newcomb Quad and University Quads, next to one another and in the middle of campus, will be the site of a tent village. It starts five hours before kickoff, and will have music food drinks a parade etc. Most of the students, and all the frats and sororities will be there for this one. I think it is about 5 acres.

I know the Claiborne bus is the most direct route but thinking a walk thru campus (and Audubon Park if catching the Magazine bus) would be more fun.

Yes, and the stadium is not close to the front of their campus.

The stadium is like a 12 minute walk from St. Charles. NBD.

We are going to try and get up early for a setup in the general tailgating area on the UC quad. Audubon Park is the backup.

It's 0.8 mile from Gibson Hall to Yulman Stadium dude. A 15 minute walk. Give it a rest.

Weather is looking pretty good (HOT), with the normal summertime chance of rain. Websites are reporting 30% - 50% at game time.

I used to park on the other side of st. Charles down Calhoun to avoid the meter maids...that walk is nothing.

Not to mention walking through the campus should add to the gameday atmosphere...tailgating behind Gibson hall, tailgating by the LBC, tailgating along palmer, Calhoun, etc. tailgating in the park

man, taking the street car on st Charles with some Tulane fans should be part of the experience...god damn...I have to book a time to go this year.

Other than friends and some professional associations I have no real connection to Tulane, but I think this is going to be really good for school and city. Haven't heard this much about Tulane football since 1998.

Plus the game will be over in time to catch the LSU game later.
