Since the board loves to post quasi-science, I will start posting the real stuff that comes out.
Lots of links inside as well about some of the recent dumb posts we've had on here.

Ice Loss

Did humans cause it? Can it be fixed? Is it worth fixing?

More questions:
How much ice should there be? Should it always be the same? What variation is acceptable?
What should average surface temperatures be on this planet? What about CO2 concentrations - what should they be?

Before I click the link, does it say what percent of ice was lost? If not then I've already read the article and it omits too much to form an opinion.

I'll answer those questions for you boys.
"we don't know the answer to any of that but what we made up fits our political agenda and sounds really cool so we'll go with that."
EDIT: we'll say that because most blokes aren't smart enough to realize that the earth has been warming and cooling for it's ENTIRE existence.

are responsible for the cooler temps we are having this summer.
Let 'er melt!

Both sides are quasi-science. Only one side is trying to use their quasi-science to crush the middle class with taxes.

That damn sun. Melting our ice and shite. Nuke it.

I can’t help but mention that I saw this news literally the day after an atrocious Mail Online article also reported on satellite imagery of the North Pole but then grossly misinterpreted it to make the claim that Arctic sea ice is recovering from the record loss in 2012. As I pointed out yesterday, that claim is just so much fertilizer. The contrast between the Mail reporting and that of the Guardian can’t be more different. The latter is trustworthy, the former … less so.
I remember that thread.

How much tax dollars do you need to fix this? Specifically who will be taxed? And what exactly are we fixing? That is how much more ice does Greenland need to be called fixed?

Considering they are the main cause of this, do you support an invasion of china to stop their pollution?

Using Antarctica as proof or not proof of climate change is pretty silly.

It’s clear to Zhang and other experts who look at sea ice that the seeming paradox of Antarctic ice increasing while Arctic ice is decreasing is really no paradox at all. The Arctic is an ocean surrounded by land, while the Antarctic is land surrounded by ocean. In the Arctic, moreover, you’ve got sea ice decreasing in the summer; at the opposite pole, you’ve got sea ice increasing in the winter. It’s not just an apples-and-oranges comparison: it’s more like comparing apple pie with orange juice.
It does serve as a reminder, however, that while the planet is warming overall, largely due to human emissions of greenhouse gases, the complexity of the climate system guarantees that the changes to come won’t unfold in a completely straightforward way.

COLUMBUS , Ohio – A new report on climate over the world's southernmost continent shows that temperatures during the late 20th century did not climb as had been predicted by many global climate models.
This comes soon after the latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that strongly supports the conclusion that the Earth's climate as a whole is warming, largely due to human activity.
It also follows a similar finding from last summer by the same research group that showed no increase in precipitation over Antarctica in the last 50 years. Most models predict that both precipitation and temperature will increase over Antarctica with a warming of the planet.

no because I'm able to understand more than the most reductionist answer to problems.

Perhaps we can make a super giant ice machine...

Do you have any idea how harmful a trade war with china would be for America's lowest classes? Say good bye to affordability of goods.

How do we determine when it is 'fixed?'
What is the benchmark global temperature and volume of ice that will demonstrate the 'problem' is 'fixed?'

It talks about the "height" lost in certain areas, it doesn't show the larger growth of areas.
Understand, I didn't read the article yet, but the graph show areas of ice HEIGHT loss, even though, from what I can surmise, the areas of ice could have increased yet there still could be lost height in areas.
I sure do see a lot of light blue as well. So its decreasing in thickness (height) in some areas and increasing in others.
Does this article dispute the findings of the ice cap increasing in area (not necessarily height)
