So I expect to see 8-9 in the box for rest of the year!

Good news is that if our qb increases his completion avg to 60% and throws for 240 and 2 tds in most of these games with no turnovers, we will probably win em all.

Or we could just go 3 wides and handoff more like we did when we started running vs. the badgers...but we know that won't happen

The only reason they got into their nickel package was after Diarse whooped em.........

Seriously, they didn't get out of it the 1st half.

We started running on their nickel and throwing on their run fronts.

If you watch the 2nd half again and you're not 100% emotionally invested on every snap, you'd see that the offense was totally different after half time. Jennings had incredible presence and poise and made some really good throws. The pass to Dural over the middle wasn't in tight coverage or anything but if you were doubting his arm strength that throw should ease your mind. I expect/hope that Cam takes a few more chances with him the next few weeks before SEC play.

The holes hilliard got in the 4th qtr were due to the d being spread more than oline blocking. Also it didn't hurt that 2 of their dlinemen were out. I just think we need to mix up the power running game with a spread running game more than what we usually do. Wear them down with some scheming (spread) then run them over when they get tired.

I agree Topwater, sometimes on 3rd and two it looks like our OTs could stand up and shake each others hands. A like some wider splits to run the ball instead of these rugby scrum formations.

You're right. We can't have him throwing too many 80 yard TDs. He needs to learn to just check it down to get some easy completions for a couple yards to get that completion % up.

With the way some appear to be looking at that TD play, they, in some nonsense way, are acting like it shouldn't count for the LSU O.

i mean, I would take 80 yard touchdowns all the time even if it meant low completion %'s

No shite!

Look, I understand all OC want a 60% completion rate and the higher the rate the better, but the most important offense stats in the game was 240 yds, 2 TDs, and 0 ints. Mahing a big deal over passing percentage, in that game, is missing the forest for the trees. imo

We have to pass the ball more, it looks to me like we may have a decent passing game but we can't allow 11 on 8 when running the ball....we just can't!!!

i would absolutely love it if cam decided that 3 WR formation would be the base formation going forward

passing and running out of those formations would have the defense constantly guessing

Yup. Our big powerful backs would have a field day running out of a 3 wide set with those big holes.

i'm hoping to see more of it. it's pretty obvious that the 3 WR formations were absolutely killing UW

sometimes a big play can skew the stats, and you've got to consider that.

What if a RB has 10 carries for 108 yards. We'd say that's a great game. But what if he had 9 carries for 9 yards, and then had a 99-yard TD run. Yes, we like the long TD run, but w/o that one play, his overall performance was poor.

Take away AJ's 80 yard TD (which was a good play by AJ, no doubt), and he was 8-21 for 160 yards. Sorry, but that ain't good. Yes, he looked better in the 2nd half, but you just have to admit that those overall numbers are mediocre, at best.

I just half arse re-watched the game in my office and it was almost sad we didn't adjust our gameplan before halftime.

We should have had 8 in the box well before the 2nd quarter started. And we should have also had more 3 WR looks early. 247 just did their film breakdown. We had 15 plays with only 1 WR and we ran on 14 of those. Gee how hard is it to gameplan against that?
Our coaches obviously thought we could win the battle in the trenches but unfortunately that wasn't the case and is a little alarming moving forward. If our OL turns out soft we are in for a long year.

This is my biggest gripe about our offense. I've got no problem with a power running game.

Just don't make it PREDICTABLE! Go with a 3 WR set to spread out the defense, and then run.

I just can't believe that a coach thinks it makes sense to consistently show a run formation and then run off-tackle.

To me, the goal of every play should be to confuse the defense and run the exact opposite of what they're expecting.
