Their technique and sound was as good as it's ever been the past few years.

It's a shame they played a recycled show... show tunes? Booooooo.

Well, I haven't heard the West Side Story bit in 2 or 3 years so we were about due I guess.

Good point. Although, there wasn't really any moment that was perfect for Neck. Didn't want to get cocky, I guess.

They played O-We-O and Tiger Rag, so I'm hoping they'll keep Neck around this year again, too.

And here. we. go.

I envision references to Malaguena, Latin Flare and Broadway coming any minute now.

They've played "America" like three of the last four years.

I was hoping they'd play neck after the Hilliard TD to take the lead. Place would have erupted IMO.

TGBFT halftime shows have been amateurish (i.e., middle-of-the-pack high school level) for a few years now. They need to take a new approach or just ditch the halftime show altogether. And the Golden Girls, while nice to look at from a guy's perspective, are a boring throwback to the 1960's, and need a serious upgrade to 21st century (if there is such a thing).

What the band does do well (aside from the classic pregame)is the in-game interaction with the crowd. They need to keep that current and exciting--it's what makes them special.

Agree. Has anyone mentioned "Flight of the Conchord" yet?

Like what, twerking? I don't think stripper moves at halftime is appropriate.

Agreed.

Disagree. Should've played after Diarse TD because atmosphere was electric and it would've taken it to an even higher level.

But were the Golden Girls still "high and tight"?

Interesting idea......

I'd say retire the GG, but it would likely start a global recession in the hair extension industry.

You can't have a band without a dance team. And the band rolling down the hill on their march to Tiger Stadium is quite the majestic scene. A good part of that scene are the golden girls in their sparkling outfits.

I wish I could have heard them. I don't think they came through once on ESPN.

Maybe not in the South. But Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame (and Texas A&M) provide superior (in terms of band quality) evidence to the contrary.

I think the GG are great (the flag wavers, on the other hand....). But they do scream 1958.

WTF?

Why not just 'update' the school colors and uniforms to something more trendy?

OR

How about you just find something else to occupy your time and let the people who enjoy LSU traditions enjoy them?

Not all of us need strippers, explosions and shiny objects to keep our attention.

It could just be me, but I think folks who don't like the band or the tradition (much less dancing girls) and instead would prefer piped-in, digitally-recorded, eardrum-ruining, 3-chord, pop music (notwithstanding explosions and other, assorted, shiny objects) are the ilk of hoi poloi better served by drivel like the WWF or staying at home while plugged in to the interwebs awaiting their adderall refills.
