Looking to take my son snowboarding/skiing in late January.

We've primarily been to local NC mountains (Beech & Sugar) and Snowshoe in WV. My son is 16 and is an excellent snowboarder.

I've been to Breckenridge twice, but that was a number of years ago. Just from the standpoint of the skiing/snowboarding, what is the best place in Colorado?

Snowboarding Breckenridge is hard to beat

Vail has less snowboarders and is better for skiing

Cant go wrong with anywhere in CO but Vail and Keystone are pretty solid choices. ATL has direct flights to Vail during the winter also.

What is the selling point for Telluride? Better slopes? Less crowded?

This is what I figure to be the case.

Will this be crowded AF compared to other places?

Late January is when we're looking to go. How does Vail compare to Breckenridge?

Largest resort in N america so you should have plenty of room . Have fun! I went to App State and spent many days on Sugar and Beech.
You might consider Tahoe as well. Squaw Valley and Heavenly are great resorts and Tahoe has an awesome snowboarding community.

Further you get away from I-70 and the front range, less crowded it will be. San Juans are the best part of Colorado..

I think a mountain with snow on it would be required.

Thx, will look into that as well.

NC skiing is nothing like it is out west. Psyched about getting my son out there to experience it.

I wouldn't. They've had shitty snowfall the last couple of winters.

I know that's SW CO, so is flying into the different airport the issue or is the drive a pain in the arse once you land?

What are the advantages these offer over Vail or Breckenridge?

Keep an eye on snow reports. This may be an unusual winter. It may help you make up your mind.
