I have to say that for all the ridicule they get, they actually have a pretty decent team:

-------El Shaarawy------Torres------Honda--------
-------(Bonaventura------(Pazzini)------(Menez, NIANG)--------

-------De Jong------Montolivo------Poli--------
-------(Essien)----(Sapanara, Mikel)-----(Van Ginkel)--------

------De Sciglio--------Alex-----Rami---------Abate------
-----(Bonera) -----(Mexes)----- (Zapata)------(Armero)------

---------- Diego Lopez (Agazzi) ------------

Risky in that they're still on a lot of wages for some players like Torres, Menez etc but for spending next to nothing on transfers for a couple of years Galliani's still managed to put together a team that could potentially threaten to squeeze into the top 4 and should at least end up in a EL spot.

El Sharaawy was absolutely electric in their 3-1 demolition of Lazio yesterday in which they played a 4-3-3 with SES -- Menez -- Honda up top.

With Diego Lopez and Alex, their defense was better than any match I watched them play this past year.

Has to be a top 4 team this season. But if Torres is once again terrible, who plays up top? El Shaarawy, Honda, and Menez can't hold the ball up and be a true target man.

I'm not really familiar with Serie A. I know they've run into financial troubles but what caused all this? Will they recover any time soon?

I don't see that team (especially the midfield) staying healthy.

Pazzini isn't a world beater but he's ok. I think whether they actually challenge Napoli, Fiorentina and Inter probably does depend on how well Torres does. I actually think he'll be pretty decent since he has such clever movement and that counts for a bit more in Italy where the game is more studied and not as back and forth.

Yeah, even their young stars like El Sharaawy and De Sciglio have had a lot of injury problems so that's definitely true.

Their financial troubles are mainly that Berlusconi was bank rolling them in sugar daddy fashion and they ended up with massive wage bills for so many declining players and he stopped putting in the money to operate in the red.

No one really knows what he'll end up doing. Many foreign bigshots have tried to buy them since they're now practically a sleeping giant but Berlusconi hasn't wanted to sell.

He was fantastic. Seems like every match of theirs I watch he's either amazing or a total turd.

Is Niang out on loan again or do you just not rate him?

I actually forgot him when I was trying to play with the dashes to format it. . . unsuccessfully I might add since Inzaghi will mainly use a 4-3-3 but I gave up when that looked too cluttered to read.

He's back with AC Milan and came on as a sub for Menez against Lazio.

El Shaaraway is a monster. I feel like this could be a team where the individual players are better than the sum of the parts.

In my head I think Honda is amazing, but every time I watch him I think hes below average, his passing is alays just good enough e-g- play a pass to the RB on the wing and it will be weigted so that if the RB sprints he can just keep it in with a stretch.

Frustrates the hell out me

I feel like I still rate him from my 2010 WC memories, but every time I have watched since then, he's failed to impress... The every so often wonder goal... I know he's battled injuries since then, maybe that has a lot to do with it...
