My neighbor mentioned Lock 1, 2, 3 as a good place to ATV ride.

Anyone have any info on what exit(s) to take?

He did not know any more info and hadn't been out there... just heard via word of mouth.

This...

Best bet would be to take I-10 or I-12 to I-59 north...go to first pearl river exit and go left...cross the tracks and continue on "41"

Should be just past(2 roads) Charter Oaks cemetery on right look for Lock 1 Rd. across from Glover Rd.

don't know where the riding area is though...

map from I-59 here...

Been quite some time since I've been to any of the locks... Only ever been to #s 1 & 2 but I don't recall there being any room on "this side" of the locks for riding and, unless they've changed it, there's no way to get a 4wheeler across the locks. There is a walkway to go across, but it's not made for 4wheelers or atv's. There's a set of stairs to walk up and down on each side.

Also, once on the other side, it's heavily wooded.

Again, unless something has changed over the last few years, I don't think it's conducive to riding.

Lock 1 is the southern-most lock off Hwy 41. All locks are off Hwy 41. Take I-59 North from Slidell and take the first exit you come to, then head west. You'll cross Hwy 11 and continue on 41.

Lock 1

Lock 2

Lock 3

Thanks cdaniel! This was an old timer who told me about the locks, so this may have been Atv accessible back in the 80's.

Yeah let me just second that. There's really nowhere around the locks to ride.

Dammit, I was hoping this would be a place I could take my boy riding. My atv is ready. Everything on the Miss side got fricked by the Infinity nature trail.

Anywhere along this corridor slash river 'valley'? In the wildlife refuge?

I don't know who owns the land now, but when I was a kid we used to go ride under the Highway 10/26 bridge that goes over the Pearl to the east of Bogalusa. You could go ride in the refuge I guess, but you'd really need a boat.

You could check out Tower Trax. LINK /
