What does most ppl do now? I'm finding some good wheel and tire packages online for a good price. But are retail stores more competive now going against online stores?

I'm familiar with tirerack.com, what are some other good online stores?

What about rims?

I'm in the market for a rim and tire package.

I've purchased a tire and wheel package (snow) from tirerack before. They come mounted on the rim and already balanced so that saves you between $60-$80 right there.

EBay has been good to several of my buddies. You can get wheels mounted and balanced and shipped to your house

Keep in mind that if you buy online, you'll have to pay someone to mount/balance, and chances are, you won't have any warranties on the tires. The place I buy my tires from gives me free tire rotations and free road hazard coverage, so by the time I factor all that in to the price, the deal is almost the same.

Tires should be purchased from Tire Rack or at least use their pricing to get NTB or Merchants to price match if they are in your area.

Same. To me it's a better deal to get them at the tire shop. I pick up nails in my tires all the time on construction sites. I pull in to the tire shop and they plug it in 5 minutes and there's no transaction that takes place. Worth it to me.

I use tirerack for research and Discount Tire Direct for purchasing (or Amazon). Tirerack is competitive, but price+tax+shipping kills it for LA residents.

I bought my last set of wheels through Amazon. Found the site online and then found same set through the seller on Amazon for same price.
