Can we all admit now that Kenny Hilliard is our horse?
Posted by Grizzley on 8/31/14 at 6:15 pm424
So buga's first game revealed exactly what I've been saying since jump street. HS numbers are just that. He will develop into a top tiered RB but for now KH is our guy.

Not to take anything away from Hilliard but he was running through some MASSIVE holes and just happened to be lucky he was the guy out there when it was happening.
Bottom line is we need to go with whoever is having their day on that certain game day. Magee, Fournette and Hilliard will all have their 100+ yard games this season and we need to ride whichever one or pair is tearing it up and in rhythm.

Nope. Just like J Hill came in midway through 2012 and became the guy, LF will too. He's just on another level physically than our other backs. Once the game slows down for him and he starts to anticipate where the holes will be then he'll live up to the hype. Hopefully we'll have a passing attack too so he won't have to face any 8 or 9 man boxes.

Hillard looked like a different back last night. I think he is going to have a good season. Fournette really didn't get a chance to show what he can do last night, the holes just weren't there. Need to work him into the offense in a more organic manner. Don't sleep on Magee either, he's already proven himself last season.

for this game he WAS our horse. magee and fournette will also have great games this year. Fournette could develop into the starter by mid season.

Yea whatever the gameplan was in the second half let's do that more.

Hillard was as pedestrian as everyone else until the OL took advantage of their depleted DL. He'll carry the load till midseason.

The problem with Fournette was Wisc's defense keyed on him every time he was on the field. He's definitely getting more attention than Hilliard or Magee.

Last night did not produce a Heisman moment for LF but when everyone else was getting 2 yds per carry he was getting five. In the second half they tried toss sweeps and the failed misdirection pitch and he was running east-west too much. He will do fine but as per the norm for CLM when he needs something he turns to more senior players and fortunately KH answered the call. Great game for KH27

Exactly my point. If Fournette was in there when the holes opened up we'd all be fapping to LF7 6 heismans right now as he rushed for 100+.
Hilliard didnt do anything special, he ran through gaping holes and ran north and south.

Hilliard will probably be the leading rusher this year. Fournette is talented but it was obvious last night he's got some things to learn. Game was too fast for him last, it was more obvious on kickoff returns.

This. He was almost more effective as a decoy last night than a primary ball carrier. He had a couple of great "missed" opportunities on a couple of screens that did not complete. One Jennings dumped him a hot potato and the other I think he missed it.

If you notice every time LF7 got the ball he was either met in the backfield or at the LOS. They were run blitzing him.

I think that was the first time in the Miles era adjustments were made at half. (On the offense side).
That Freshman will come around in the middle of the season. With the numerous great RB's LSU has, he might not see a lot of PT.

His kickoff returns were pretty weak
He doesnt need to be returning kickoffs, we have to have better than run it up the gut and look for someone to run over.

I agree. But it worries me when our "prodigy" struggles to get the ball to the 20 yard like in kickoffs.

Is it true that if LF7 has the same success as KH27 last night, it would be that Fournette is the real deal and LF7 for heisman? Admit it, alot of you would have. Just saying.
