LSU FOOTBALL POSTGAME NOTES

1. LSU’s game captains were 70 La’el Collins, 18 Terrence Magee, 31 D.J. Welter, 59 Jermauria Rasco, 50 Reid Ferguson, 38 Jamie Keehn.
a. Guest captain for the Tigers was former All-American Patrick Peterson.
2. Wisconsin won the toss and deferred its option to the second half. LSU received the opening kickoff.
3. LSU improved to 88-28-5 in season-openers, won its school record 12th straight season-opener and moved to 10-0 under Les Miles during
season openers. The Tigers last loss was 26-8 at Virginia Tech on September 1, 2002.
a. With the victory, LSU also ended Wisconsin’s winning streak at 16 consecutive games in season openers which entered today’s
action tied for the nation’s third-longest streak.
4. LSU has won all three meetings against Wisconsin. Tonight’s game marked the first meeting between the two teams since the 1972 season,
a 27-7 victory in Tiger Stadium.
a. LSU improved to 9-5-1 against Big Ten opponents when the school was actually in the Big Ten conference. The last time the
Tigers opened the season versus a Big Ten foe was September 16, 1978 when LSU defeated Indiana, 24-17, in Tiger Stadium.
5. LSU extended the nation’s longest regular-season non-conference winning streak at 46 consecutive games, which also is a FBS record. Les
Miles is 36-0 in non-conference regular-season games as head coach of the Tigers.
6. The Tigers had 12 players make their first career appearances: 33 Jamal Adams (special teams), 48 Donnie Alexander (special teams/punt
return), 98 Deondre Clark (DE), 9 John Diarse (WR/special teams), 14 Trent Domingue (special teams/kickoffs), 7 Leonard Fournette
(RB/special teams), 57 Davon Godchaux (DT), 6 Brandon Harris (QB), 44 Colin Jeter (TE), 47 John David Moore (special teams), 24 Ed Paris
(special teams), 8 Trey Quinn (WR/special teams),
7. LSU had four players make its first career start (3 on offense, 1 on defense): WR Travin Dural, RG Hoko Fanaika, DT Christian LaCouture
and WR Trey Quinn.
8. A total of 91 true freshmen have now played under Les Miles in his tenure as head coach at LSU, including seven tonight:
a. Jamal Adams, Donnie Alexander, Deondre Clark, Leonard Fournette, Davon Godchaux, Brandon Harris, Ed Paris and Trey
Quinn were the seven true freshmen who made their debuts during the Wisconsin game.
b. Five true freshmen saw the field in the first quarter.
9. LSU picked up its 22nd fourth-quarter comeback win under Les Miles. The Tigers have notched a fourth-quarter comeback in two of their
last three victories.
a. LSU faced a 24-7 deficit with 12:24 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The 17-point comeback for the Tigers was the second-largest
under Miles, the largest was a school-record 28-point comeback during a 40-31 win over Troy on November 15, 2008.

10. LSU scored its first touchdown of the season on an 80-yard passing play from QB Anthony Jennings to WR Travin Dural at the 4:47 mark of

So, fair to say that Donnie Alexander is the biggest surprise of that freshman group? Good for that young man, didn't see him contributing that early.
