Offensive Line review after rewatching game this A.M.

I had a chance to re-watch the game this morning, something I always try to do, and came away with a couple things.
In nearly 50% of the snaps our offensive line saw in the first half, the Wisc. defensive line made 1, if not two pre-snap adjustments. This is all not to mention the multitude of run blitzes they were throwing at LSU. If you re-watch the game it's fairly easy to pick up that Grimes had this line doing (trying) things technique/scheme wise, that hadn't seen ever under the previous regime. (They definitely blocked the HB quick toss differently.) Not at all saying that this line won't be successful using it, but when you pair first game rust/experience with a damn good football team throwing multiple pre-snap DLine looks at you it can complicate some things. All this while stacking run blitz combinations making it difficult for those Offensive lineman to pick up those "next level" blocks that we are so accustomed to seeing here at LSU. (Always high in CFB "yards before first contact" ranking.)
Then things changed at halftime. It's almost if Grimes had them revert back to a more simplistic scheme, disregarding all of Wisc. pre snap adjustments. To me, it was almost night and day the OLine Speed in the second half compared to the first. (I know injuries) Also, some of you need to realize, it wasn't exactly like we weren't getting push in that first half, but scheme wise they were able to effectively disguise their run blitzes and fronts. I mean hell, their LB had what? 20 tackles?
Point in case guys, we're going to be alright upfront on the offensive line. We have a couple weeks to iron out some kinks. I'm excited to see where they can be by the time the bulk of the SEC schedule rolls around.
TLDR yeah, but hey, doesn't it feel great to be 1-0? Go Tigers.

Pocic got abused by the noseguard. I don't have the confidence you do after watching that.

I did see a few times it looked like he took a false first step, and then almost seemed to pause, losing leverage. I did like his fight though, seemed to be chippy out there. I like a few extra shoves right to the whistle.

Yea, I think he is going to be a good one. He was a little overmatched. Hopefully the line improves or it will be a long year.

What changed at 1/2 was cam decided to go with more 3 wide sets to spread the lb's and safeties. Allowing easier reads and direct blocking for the o-line.
Second, we knocked out their best defensive lineman and ran the ball at his replacement.
third- we knocked out their best lbr.

the overall fact is that they were overplaying the run. it is our OC's job to notice this and adjust using proper play calling. when some of these calls were made (screens, short tight end throws, etc) the player execution was horrible. at least we know what we have to work on as it's a given our foes will be all about stopping the run.

Les Miles has never understood, as far as I can tell, that crowds of people mean fewer holes and more difficult manuevering and progress. He doesn't seem to value misdirection, either.

This is what I believe as well. I hope the shotgun 3 wide set turns into the base formation.

Which is why he has all of those losing seasons.

THIS!!!!!! The only way this team will beat bama this year is testing their suspect secondary.

its really sad to see a freshman LT at Alabama playing and dominating better than any of our offensive line.

Pocic is not a center and should not be playing there,IMO.

Hopefully we get porter back soon

Just need to play more physical. The big difference in each front seven was crystal clear - Wisconsin has a playmaking MLB, we do not.
Caputo was shooting gaps and hitting our RBs in the backfield most of the night. Welter did make a solo tackle for a 6 yard gain after he was drug 3 yards after initial contact though.

You need to take off the purple and gold glasses. The Offense had one good running drive and that was a complete cluster by Wisconsin defense. The OL was looking for a block on those Hilliard gashes and their was no one in sight to block
Pocic acted like he just started playing center
Gordon acted like he never knew the snap count
Even the guard play was lackluster at times.
Presnap moves by a depleted DL is no excuse for this team.

Good to see you're still as stupid as ever.

Jury is still OUT on that verdict. Our O-line didn't start opening holes until after both their starting DE & Nose Guard went down on their already very thin d-line. Wisco's d-line absolutely man-handled our Tiger O-line through the first 2 1/2 qtrs of the game and we outweighed their d-line by an avg of 35lbs per man. If that doesn't concern anyone, than you are optimistically delusional. No if, ands or buts about it LSU should have done to Wisco like they did to us in the first half. We had experience and power over their line and we shite the bed in the first half. Kenny Hilliard had 98 of his 118 yards in the 4th qtr when 2/3rds of their starting D-Line was out. You can put all the lipstick on a pig that you want, but in the end it is still a pig.
If you want to try and sugar coat it go ahead, but LSU has a lot of improving they need to do on that O-line play.

The TE's apathy towards blocking was at an all time high. Is it to much to ask to at least make contact with a defender lined up on your head or outside shoulder?
