Wife is interested in the car after riding in it with a colleague when they went out for lunch last week. She loves how quite it is and wants it as her daily driver (her commute is 20 miles round trip).

I see some great lease offers ($199 per month). 2014 models are also eligible for $3500 cash rebate + $7500 federal tax rebate if buying.

Anybody here drive a Nissan Leaf or any other plug-in electric car? Do you get 'range anxiety' when driving around town?

If her commute is 20 miles round trip that throws range anxiety out the window.

Coworker of mine has one (lease) and plugs in at work. He loves it as his back-and-forth car. I"ve got a prius which I bought used and it's been a great investment for work. I drive 100 miles roundtrip.

Guy I work with has one. Drives 35 miles round trip. No issues at all. Trickle charges it every night and the battery is full the next morning.

Just get a Volt. It's electric with no range anxiety and a better car than the Leaf.

But environmentally speaking, if your energy for that car is coming from coal, what gives?

My friend described it as the worst car ever. Lower mileage than advertised and inconsistent at best.

Coal or nat gas or Nuclear if here in LA. Still cheaper on a dollar per mile aspect.

According to whom? Not here in the US with all the scrubbing and regulations in place. Car exhaust is worse on a "per mile" basis.
