Going From Apple To Android: Potential Difficulties?

How much of a pain in the arse is this? The wife wants a Galaxy S5, LG G3, or the new iPhone. I didn't know anything about the G3 until I went into a Verizon store the other day. Holy shite I want that phone. My lock button doesn't work on my 5 all that great anymore and I'm pretty sure we are making the switch (unless Apple blows us away next week).
We have Macs and iPads out the arse so this iMessage debacle is something that I assume will be a clusterfrick. Will turning off iMessage on all of our devices fix the text issue? I know texting former Apple users sucks right now.

As bad as I hate to say it, you're probably better off sticking with Apple... especially if you use iTunes a lot. If not, it might be worth the trouble to have a badass phone like the G3.

I just switched from an iPhone to that sleek new HTC Android. I wish I could undo it. I hate Android - this is my 2nd go round and I hate it just as much.
Battery life sucks, the phones aren't nearly as intuitive. I just don't get it.

HTC One. I dont' like it. I'd take the new iPhone over it any day. The battery life is horrendous.

You're heavily invested in Apple. The 6, iOS 8, & Yosmite will all be out in a few weeks.

FWIW, Apple will fix your lock button out of warranty for free.

I went from regular size phones to the HTC EVO when that was considered "big" and then went to the Note 2 which I thought was gonna be too big. Bigger is better
Wait till the iPhone 6 comes out first. I think you'll probably stick with the Apple ecosystem. But I think I am going to get the G3 in a few weeks myself unless the Note 4 blows it away.

Yeah. My photographer wife sold me on all that silliness. Although I've had an iPad since day one.
