Current LSU student here.

My friends and me are going to the game tomorrow and are looking to find any parking places(a street or area not a garage) that is nearby the stadium area that is free or very cheap.

Any Houston area LSU fans have any tips on where?

Well being that you are a student, I'm sure they will just let you park front row at NRG for free

Not much near the stadium that will be free. The old Astroworld lot should be $20 or less I would think.

I park in midtown and take the train for $1.25 to the stadium. There's free parking about 5 blocks away in the neighborhood areas.

Can't you just park at one of the park & ride's and take the rail to the stadium? Honest question, I don't know.

On a scale from MARTA to DC Metro how nice is Houston's rail system?

There's an apartment complex across Fannin from NRG Park. You could try parking there and walk across the street. (may get towed)

Sometimes there are spots on the street on LaConcha on the back side of the park.

You could park in the lot at Fiesta/Ross/Petsmart and walk across the street. (may get towed)

Park in one of the hotel lots near the stadium (may get towed)

There are no Park and Ride lots near the Rail coming from downtown.

For the OP -- the cheapest (and relatively safe) route for you is to park downtown and pay ~$5 then ~$2 to ride the rail.

As for free parking NEAR stadium -- does not exist without towing risk as other poster above indicated.

Also as another poster indicated -- you could Uber from whereever you are staying OR from a true Metro Park and Ride lot -- which is free parking. Closest one is near intersection of US 59 and I-610 -- which is WSW of the stadium -- should be about a 10 mintue or less ride to the stadium from there... Houston Uber has been approved, I believe so give it a search.

There is a hotel at the corner of Main and 610 that used to charge $20 to park for Texans games. I'm not sure if they are doing this still but ride by there and see.

stubhub has $31 parking spots about a 15 min walk to stadium.

South of the Stadium on Fannin about 2 - 3 miles is a Park and Ride Lot. You park there and it's usually a dollar. You walk a few yards to get on the free tram that takes you right to the stadium. It's still a bit of a walk from the drop off to the stadium but that's what we use for everything at NRG Stadium... Best of all, when you leave, you can exit the lot, turn south, go to the first light which is Airport and turn left. It will take you to 288 and from there you can get anywhere... No traffic. This lot is where the train stops and heads back to downtown... the proverbial "end of the line."

The Fannin Park & Ride will be charging $15 for the "special" event. You get round trip metro rail ticket for everyone in your car included in the $15 fee.

At least through after the game. I think they run till 2-3am. It's a decent rail system and it's 70-80% people going out/partying.
