Fantasy Football is best with people you know

I've found this to be true over the past couple of years, and this is it: Fantasy football is supposed to be played with people you know. Playing against total strangers is just... blah. When you play in a league that is full of friends/family, there's a competitiveness and fun aspect to it that is just not present in a league where you don't know the other people. I've been in a league with a group of friends for years now, and that has always been the league I've put the most time and effort into, the one that takes precedence over the other leagues I've been in where I didn't know any of the other people. Other than that league, my fiancee' and I are in another league, but no one is communicating or talking in that league, and it seems so impersonal, like we're just playing against robots or something.
When you are in a league with friends/co-workers/family, there's just a whole different dynamic to it than just playing against random people. What do y'all think?

Sounds like this guy doesn't drop the big bucks on fantasy

Lol you're right, I play in a free league on nfl.com with some buddies of mine. The other league that my fiancee' and I are in is a league on espn.com. I wouldn't mind playing in a pay-for-play league in the future, but my financial situation right now doesn't really allow for that, but it's okay, you can still have a lot of fun playing in a free league against friends.

100% correct. Just had the draft for our 25th year keeper league (yes I'm getting old). Still fondly remember the days of arguing in high school over which newspaper box score to use..."bullfricking shite dude, that pass from Kelly to Reed was over 50 yards. Go watch Sportscenter again. USA Today fricked it up". Good times, simpler times

I don't know anyone in TDFL and it's my favorite league

Free league? What's the point?

Money always dictates the competitiveness. IMO. Friends or not

Yeah, TDFL is the best. I like playing with people who actually know a lot about fantasy football.
