Summary of LSU-Wisconsin Predictions - Final Results

250 people have now posted a score in the prediction thread, and with less than 24 hours left, I wanted to share some statistics. When I say “average”, I’m using median. For people who posted multiple predictions, I only counted your most recent one. I assumed that LSU was the chosen winner unless stated otherwise. There were some non-numerical predictions as well:
LSU eleventy billion, Wisconsin 2 (1 vote)
LSU eleventy billion, Wisconsin 0 (2 votes)
LSU wins, no score given (2 votes)
Pain (2 votes)
LSU eleventy billion, Was [sic] chump change (1 vote)
(1 vote)
I didn’t count your prediction if you hedged. There were two of those:
LSU 23 or 24, Wisconsin 13 or 17
LSU 35, Wisconsin 13 or 16
With that being said, all but 7 people out of 250 picked LSU as the winner. The most popular score choice was 31-17, with 18 people (including me) choosing it. The predicted margin of victory ranged from Wisconsin winning by 13 to LSU winning by 106. The average margin of victory was LSU by 11, and the most popular was LSU by 7, with 31 people picking the Tigers to win by a touchdown. Here’s a graph, excluding the 106 margin for readability. Negative numbers indicate a prediction that Wisconsin wins:
Picks for LSU scores ranged from 8 to 106, unless you count the “eleventy billion” picks. 46 people predicted that the Tigers will score 31 points, making it the most popular choice. The average LSU score prediction was 28. Another graph, again excluding the 106:
Picks for Wisconsin scores ranged from 0 to 28. A whopping 72 people picked the Badgers to score 17 points. The average Wisconsin score prediction was also 17. One more graph:
tl;dr: The average Rant poster thinks that LSU will beat Wisconsin 28-17, and the most popular prediction was LSU 31-17.

Please, my prediction is 27-17 LSU, but you use the Rant predictions as your source?

I see more people have posted predictions, but I'll leave this as is. 250 is a good number anyway.

Thanks
I was just interested in seeing what the Rant had to say. We'll find out tomorrow if we got it right.

T-shirts? You would need a quilt to get all of that information on there.

As if to show how crazy last night was, out of everyone who made a prediction, no one was exactly right. One poster predicted the correct score, but by the wrong teams (a 28-24 Wisconsin win). The following posters came closest, only a point away:
beauxdacious
LuckyTiger
RANDY44
rattlebucket
Tiger Brigade
10 posters predicted the correct margin of victory, but with too many or too few points. 19 posters were right about how many points LSU would score, and 20 were right about Wisconsin's score.
LSU scored as many points as the Rant expected, as shown in the OP, but gave up 7 more than expected. All but 7 posters picked the Tigers to win, and that's the stat that matters the most.
