The search for a new head coach has been completed, however the front office is tight lipped as to who it is.

Announcement to come next week.

Meanwhile, former coach Killer heads back North.

Kaminski, 45, spent the past three seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League as head coach of the Louisiana IceGators, who relieved him of his duties earlier this month despite consecutive runner-up finishes and a three-year playoff run after taking over the team in December 2010.

Do you go to the games? I see Louis Dumont around town all the time. Just have zero desire to go watch a game. Went once in Blackham (didn't like it), and went to one at the Cajundome, and cringed most of the time.

I didn't realize the Icegators were still around. Are they the only team left from the old ECHL?

I should have remembered about P'cola since my brother lives there.

Best hockey fight I ever saw was between the Icegators & the Tiger Sharks in Tallahassee.

You just don't like hockey or was it something else?

I think watching it live is amazing.

I go to some every now and then. I use to play at the rink on 49 and on Ambassador. Some of the old Ice Gators would play from time to time. John Depourcq coaches a youth team in town I think. I see him at the ambassador rink pretty often. I saw Chris Valicevic at Dillards today. I use to see him all the time at sTm football games.

The ULL basketball team and the Ice Gators are having a contest to see who can put the least amount of people in the cajun dome during the seasons.

It was epic. I remember that Louis Bedard got escorted off the ice and he waited a while and came back out and started fighting again. They called off the rest of the 2nd period and then at the start of the 3rd, it took the PA announcer 5 minutes to read off all the game misconduct penalties.

Also, on that video the voice is the Tiger Sharks' radio PBP guy, Kyle Schultz. He was a great guy and had a voice made for hockey. After the Sharks moved to Macon, he went back home to Wisconsin. A few years later he was killed driving home from a game. Apparently fell asleep at the wheel. RIP Kyle.

I remember going all the time as a kid, and that shite was hype as frick. Getting tickets to those games were amazing. Went to a Blackham game with low expectations and it just felt like a shell of its former self. Then I went to the Cajundome for a game, was maybe 1500 people there. The announcer made me face palm the entire game.

There was a jersey auction with no initial price set. No one was bidding...so finally one fan bid like $50. Announcer started a very desperate plea for more bids. "$60?.....$55.....? Really? No One? Ok, well going in 3....2........." Wife of the younger (son) owner makes a bid at $250 to win it so it doesn't go to anyone below cost (I'm assuming). Just seems like a super cheap production.

I got to know him personally in Milwaukee...GREAT guy. Once I moved to the South I would make the trip to Houston for every Admirals series and would meet up with him. Left a wife and kids too...such a shame. Way too young to die.

Legit CSB.

My brother got to know him fairly well. I knew him a little bit. The year after that brawl, our season tickets were right in front of the broadcast booth and he'd make some comment on the radio when we'd walk in and take our seats.

Kyle was a true professional but one time I heard him lose his cool on the air. Tally was playing P'cola in the playoffs one year and the Ice Pilots had come into our place and taken the first two games of the series (best of 5). So we're playing the 3rd game in Pensacola and the Tiger Sharks had a 1 goal lead late in the game - under 2 minutes left. We were changing lines and Cal Ingraham jumped over the wall early so they called a bench minor for too many men on the ice. Instead of a 2 minute power play, the referee awarded the Ice Pilots a penalty shot. Well Kyle just lost his mind. "This is a bunch of bull shite. In all my years of calling and playing hockey, I've never seen anything like this! I can't believe what I'm seeing! This is just bull shite!!" After a commercial break Kyle regained his composure and apologized for his outburst. Of course they made the penalty shot, the game went into overtime and the Ice Pilots won to eliminate us.
