Should I get at Costco for 749.00 the Samsung or Sharp for $1999?
Sharp has Quattro
Plasma is 1080

Both are 1080p. Samsung will probably be better picture but go with size.

Sharp 70" has matte screen and I'm personally not a fan because it looks dull and lifeless.
I much prefer glossy looking screen on plasma or other LED with glossy coating. Apple cinema display is an example of a glossy screen.

I dont care for the picture of the sharp either, my Dad has that TV. I have a Samsung LED that looks way better than his. Had a Samsung 50 plasma before and the picture was incredible. It only lasted 2 years though.

My Vizio M Series has been fantastic.

screen quality or picture quality is all about the same at larger screen sizes. depends on your desired use of the tv. will it be the main TV in the house? only used occasionally? media room with theatre atmosphere and no windows? patio?

Get the plasma and use the other $1200 to upgrade your audio system or save to buy a newer/better TV in 3-4 years. (OLED hopefully mainstream by then)

I may be showing my ignorance of the topic but I have had the Vizio 60 for 2 years and still love it

I would not put a plasma in a living room with lots of windows and natural light.

Same here. 70 inch Vizio M series for $2k at Costco. Wish iI had grabbed the 80.
Also got 60 inch M series for den and no complaints for around $800.
To feel better, read reviews done by CNET. Convinced me Vizio was best bang for the buck. Make sure you look at M series and not E.
If you're like me and appreciate a nice pic but not quite a real videophile then Vizio is great. Buy it from Costco and you have 24 months to return it for full refund.

This.
But I know they were working on some reflection dampening at some point with plasmas. Not sure how much of a difference there is.

Panasonic had a "dampening" on their plasmas. I have an st50 model in my living room and it's the best tv I've ever owned. I actually returned a sharp led within a 30 day grace period to get this one.
