I'm drafting #3 in PPR and expecting Charles and McCoy to be gone so the debate comes down to Peterson and Forte.

He's 29 1/2, but despite missing games last year he was still very good. Does his age and work history scare you or do you believe he's an exception to the rule?

Is Peterson going to be playing during the fantasy playoffs? I think the Bears will be competing for a playoff spot while the Vikings are expected to suck. For me, I'd rather havery Forte. Their production will be similar but to me he's safer.

Why would this year be different? Didn't Vikings only win 4 games last year and AP wasn't shut down.

I also have the 3rd pick and unless Charles falls to me, AP is my guy.

The Vikings want to get Peterson on the edge of the field more often, both to maximize his explosiveness and reduce the pounding on his body, and that will inherently put the running back in some new situations. He'll run out of shotgun sets and multiple-receiver formations more often.

I like it!

Peterson is only 9 months older than Forte. I would take age out the equation if it is between the two.

I would mainly concern myself on production. Forte is a PPR beast, but hopefully Norv's play calling will open up some better opportunities for Peterson this year.

Turner was the play caller when Tomlinson had a pretty decent season at 29. It's hard to bet against Peterson. Who wants to be that guy?

Adrian Peterson is bionic. All concerns are non-concerns.

Well...Mr. Bionic has failed to hold up 2 of the last three seasons.

STD:
1) McCoy
2) AP
3) Charles

PPR:
1)Charles
2)McCoy
3)Peterson
4)Forte

Injuries are unpredictable. Let's make a thread for everyone.

Any concerns about Jamal Charles only scoring double digit touchdowns once is his 6 year career? Nope.

Any concerns about LeSean McCoy having solid years in between elite ones? Nope.

Adrian Peterson is as safe as they come barring injuries which are once again, unpredictable.

No concerns since Andy Reid came.

He had 7 and 11 carries in the last two games that he played last season. He averaged 25 carries per game in the 5 before that. I think that if the Vikings had a chance at the playoffs, his carries would have went up the last few games.

No concerns about his 91 career touchdowns. Or his 10k plus yards in only 7 seasons. Or his 5.0 avg per attempt.

I could go on.

Look, AP is a fantastic player when healthy... but if you had him last year of in 2011, you undoubtedly lost your league.

Wait until Andy Reid and the Chiefs aren't playing the easiest schedule in the league this season.

are you seriously knocking AP because he tore an ACL 3 years ago?

Hes missed a total of 5 games his entire career, outside of that injury

Karabell's comments today for ESPN Insiders:

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (3rd RB, 3rd overall): I'm just stunned everyone's treating him as a safe, young fellow who doesn't have a million touches and a knee injury. As with the quarterbacks and Peyton Manning, he's also my No. 3 guy in the top tier, and I came closer to moving Peterson out of the tier than up in it.

Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (4th RB, 4th overall):Move him up in point-per-reception formats. No, really. Peterson is not catching 50 passes. He's barely top-10 overall in PPR.

Peterson's last 4 games:
WK TM Carries YDS TDS Pts
14 @Bal 7 13 0 1
15 Phi 0 0 0 0
16 @Cin 11 45 0 4
17 Det 0 0 0 0
