First, let me start by saying that I have never bought a car from a dealer before so this is a new experience for me. I'm in the market for a new German vehicle. I open to lease or purchase. I have decided that I am between 2 vehicles, each of a different make.

At each dealership, I have spent time driving the vehicles. At the conclusion of my time at the dealership, I have asked that they email me inventory they have for the vehicle I like so that we can start the dialogue on negotiating. All I get back are emails trying to get me back into the dealership!

I have explained to them that I do not have the time to come back. Just email me some offers. It's been over a week and I'm adhering to the "silence is golden" rule. Do these frickers not want to sell a car?

German? If it's a VW you are making a mistake. If its BMW, Porsche, or Merc they've got you already and know it.

I'd go to Houston to buy German fwiw.

Not a vw. If they've got me, then why not try to sell me the car? This is a third car so it's more of a want. I'll walk in a second.

They will try to squeeze every penny they can out of you because they know you've got the money. They will try to sell you, on their terms.

I've had three german cars from BR dealers. No more.

Go to Hou, Dallas, or buy a different vehicle if you want to stay local.

Third car? Cayman?

This thread is not about that. I will say this: It is not a C class or a 3 series or an A3

Is it Brian Harris?

If so, I've had similar trouble. Started off great with test drive and looking at available inventory, etc. I didn't have a lot of time, so he jotted down some notes on my specs and my phone number.

A week later he calls me back and seems like he has never talked to me before. I try to fill him in and say I'll email you.

Sent the email, got one response, then silence.

I'm in what seems like a similar situation. I can very easily be sold a car, but I in no way need this car.

Lol. A Cayman is about the farthest thing from an SUV that there is.

I know this. I was posting from the car and was thinking Cayenne for some reason.

Stick with email. If they don't want to go that route, try someone else, and let them know.

I've been through that and the only thing most dealers use email for is ridiculous spam bullshite. I gave Rountree Ford my email to get an "internet only price" on an F-150. Never got a price. Only got thrice-weekly bullshite sales ads. I finally wrote to the GM who never responded.

If your salesman is over 40, forget about it. That is one industry holding on to the "old way" tooth and nail. Pretty soon the boomers are going to stop buying cars and they'll have to learn to adapt. I started poking around at Audis last weekend. I was honest with the salesman and told him I was interested in either a CPO S4 or possibly a new S3 if the price was right. The Audi dealer told me to check out CarMax for used S4's. I was very impressed.
