Was looking at the TFO voodoo daddy boat rod in the #40 or #50 size. Looking for a good all around snapper AJ tuna kinda rod since its the first "offshore" rod im buying.

A 50 for snapper and AJs?

What's your budget?

LINK

I have a few rods made by this guy, really good bang for buck.

im pretty good at that too. 250 isnt bad tho the TFO I was looking at was 200. Is there a warranty on those? The TFO has a lifetime one $35 you get a new rod. Id guess the 50WA might be a big real for AJ and snapper. but if im going to buy one rod to take offshore id want it to be on the stronger side not the more fun side. Just got a boat, now I need to start building the rod n reel collection

Gotcha. Take a look at those pinnacle rods. Call john directly and tell him what you're looking for, don't buy directly from ebay.

If you hadn't bought your reel yet, I think you can get away with a 30w for sure. Going to be a bit lighter and easier to handle. I bought the guy I fish with a 50w as a gift to go along with his others, and the only time it's really taken out is when there's a chance we are going to hook a marlin (on the small side for marlin).

He already had 30's. Should have bought him a couple 25 TLDs as they would get more use than the 50. Although this guy only tuna fishes about once a year

I have not bought it yet. I may go put my hands on one and see. I was just thinking it was a good beefy reel to handle what I may hook. No plans for marlin but the usual snaper aj grouper cobia tuna type stuff.

I'd look into a 30, hell even a Talica 20 should do what you want.

So would you still do that rod you linked with a 30 and/or a50?

Just ordered the TSX50 pro in a 50 and 30 class. I'll pair that with the Tiagra 50WLRSA and a 30 WLRSA. Thanks for the info...hope to post some pics of fish caught with them next
