Listened to the Gulf Council meeting all today...the Amendment 40 discussion was long and argumentative...

I believe they decided that they could not make the decision as of now.

I called this many years ago. We as rec guys will have to fall on the sword and then we will see some changes made thru our reps in congress.

Must have been a pretty good show then...they sounded like they were arguing

ETA:

Also from what I saw...if they chose their preferred option...the Federal Red Snapper Season would be 34 days long for the Charter Sector and 1 day long for the Private Sector...

If all states were compliant with the Federal regulations, then the Private Sector would have a 13 Day Federal Snapper Season

Talking reason w/ the no more fishing service doesn’t work and their math doesnt work either – so the only options are money guns and lawyers. Sad it has got to this point but the stock assessment and data acquirement they do is laughable at best so the only way to change the process will be thru the courts or political reps

So about the price of a charter Seriously though with the $$$ the recreational segment spends on boats, gear etc. It is a shame we get bent over backwards by our own gov.

A government who cares so much about the red snapper that they are actively destroying their habitat for some scrap metal...
