huh. Has Mankins fallen off or something? Tim Wright isn't anything special as far as I know.

I don't know whether to think that Gronk is nowhere near ready, or that it's clear Mankins had no intentions of signing again.

Interesting... Pats just love dumping guys that theyve gotten what they wanted and who arent under long term deals of their liking.. and like this case.. always get something of value in return

It's a salary dump. Mankins is a great guard, but isn't worth the money he's being paid. This will allow the Pats to extend both McCourty and Revis.

Connolly will be the center and they'll insert Kline.

Thats my hope, I was going off the roto blurb which I assumed was from the trade report

quote:

Patriots acquired TE Tim Wright and a 2015 fourth-round pick from the Bucs in exchange for LG Logan Mankins. The Patriots had a bit of a logjam on their interior line, and needed help at "move" tight end. Wright is a natural fit to potentially fill the old Aaron Hernandez role. He's a former college receiver at Rutgers who caught 54 balls for 571 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie last season. This move puts Wright squarely on the fantasy radar. We don't believe it has anything to do with Rob Gronkowski's availability for Week 1 whatsoever. The Pats will move RG Dan Connolly to left guard. Ryan Wendell is at center. Marcus Cannon is the right guard.

This. Kline will be the guy, he has looked good and is very quick.

Mankins gave up 11 sacks last year, second most in the NFL. He's tough, durable and a leader, but he has been on the decline.

Wright becomes A. Hernandez 2.0 in this offense.

They've been needing to fill that hybrid H-back/WR/"move TE" since losing Hernandez. I don't know much about Wright, but him being a converted WR in college fits the bill.

I dont see wright making a huge impact this season. Theyve gone sll preseason as a 1 TE offense, and wrights wont change that this late

Hell be vital, but calling him hernandez 2.0 is a little much.
