The guy is listed at 6'4" 295 lbs, and it's not like he is hopeless catching passes down field.

Don't want to discredit Wisconsin's guys totally, but LSU is just at a completely different level.

Looking like a LSU 31 Wisconsin 10 kind of game to me.

Wisconsin's DL:

NT: Herring 6-3 283
DE: Zagzebski 6-3 277
DE: Obasih 6-2 268

LB's are 226-244 lbs.

expected a post about the possibility of Gordon catching passes. Got a prediction, and the height/weight of Wisky's D-Linemen and LBs

confused post doesn't know what it wants to be yet? He (Gordon) could have a good game catching passes over/across the middle. He should overall have more passes thrown his way this year.

Using Gordon as one example to show just how overmatched Wisky is. LSU's TE can maul their DL so LSU's OL should have little problem. Also, it's not like Dillon is really another O-lineman playing TE. He's a decent receiving TE. OVERMATCHED = 31-10 type of game.

I didn't say he was "another O-lineman playing TE" ... I hope he has a good game and a great season but given our hesitance to throw to the tight end for some time now I just don't know how productive he can be, but he'll get more targets, I think purely because of the lack of proven guys at WR behind Dural...(not counting Leslie and Diarse just yet because Leslie has one catch to his credit and Diarse hasn't played a down for us yet)

I tend to agree. It'll be close for a half, but then it'll be out of hand for them. One thing Les does is get the guys ready for big out of conference games. Oregon and TCU come to mind. Lead by a touchdown or less at halftime then win by 2 or 3 scores in the end.

I didn't say you did. Was talking about Dillon's talent and not about his expected production. He is a capable TE but he may go unused-- which is the point. An overlooked, underutilized? guy like Dillon has more talent than just about any guy on Wisconsin's team. Huge talent mismatch in this one taking place in non-neutral Houston.

Wisconsin's DL:

Let's give their offense some credit.. Gordon will get his.

1) I would take any TE involvement in our offense. How refreshing that would be.
2) I'm sure they are saying the same thing about their Oline vs our Dline. I don't know the size differential their but both team's experience is along the offensive lines.

This is going to come down to 1 thing. (IMO) Who can stop the other team from running the ball all day long? I believe that will tell the story at the end of the day as in most games.

0 catches. However, he will cream inside and outside linebackers to the point that they will be falling down, tripping to get out of his way and crying mama towards the end of the game. And he will be in their ear the whole game. Every time we get a first down. Every time we get a score. Every time he crushes one and is laying on top of them. He will even kick them a little as he goes by. Just like he did in the TCU game last year.

They have a 3-4 defense with a guy in the middle less than 285. The guy would have to be pretty damn special to go up against an OL like ours. Pocic is 6'7" 301, for instance.

We play a 4-3 so our guys can be slightly smaller though most of our DTs are about 300 lbs. anyway (not Herron).

With only 3 returning defensive starters for us, I can see it being more of a 42-31 type of game. I expect LSU to win, but wouldn't be overly surprised if UW pulled it out.

It is a 3-4 built on quickness and unpredictable pressure, its not the NFL/Bama version with 320+ linemen eating blocks. You may be right and it won't work vs LSU but the size differential along the line is not surprising given the design of the D. We are going to try to bring more guys than you can block and attempt to disrupt plays before they develop, we'll see if it works.

As for the reverse, the other poster is right, we can say the same thing. Our O-line goes;
LT März 6'5" 321
LG Lewallen 6'6" 321
C Voltz 6'3" 311
RG Costigan 6'5 319
RT Havenstein 6'8" 333

Both defenses will be hard pressed.

With QB and WR question marks on both teams(yes I know ours are more talented), I think this game comes down to both OL's and RB's against the defenses. It looks like to me both will stack the box and let the toughest team win. One or two long pass plays could determine this game... and of course turnovers and a play or two on special teams.

Tigers win 27-17

Your LBs aren't small. How quick are they? Any legit NFL guys-- should be drafted in first 4 rounds?

With LSU's speed at the Fournette position, look for TE's to be setting the edge all night. If Landisch's hamstring is still bothering him, LSU can rack up some yardage outside the tackles.

Our DTs are 300+ though, I think that might be what he's getting at.

But I'm not sure, it wasn't really coherent.
