Mine is Olivier's Richard III from 1955.

The opening soliloquy is one of my favorite scenes ever. It actually combines the opening of Richard III with another soliloquy from Richard in King Henry VI Part III.

quote:

Why, I can smile, and murder whiles I smile,
And cry 'Content' to that which grieves my heart,
And wet my cheeks with artificial tears,
And frame my face to all occasions.

I'll drown more sailors than the mermaid shall;
I'll slay more gazers than the basilisk;
I'll play the orator as well as Nestor,
Deceive more slily than Ulysses could,
And, like a Sinon, take another Troy.
I can add colours to the chameleon,
Change shapes with Proteus for advantages,
And set the murderous Machiavel to school.

Can I do this, and cannot get a crown?
Tut, were it farther off, I'll pluck it down.

I like the MGM Julius Caesar with Brando, Gielgud and James Mason, though unfortunately the role of Caesar himself is miscast

Sadly I still haven't been able to see his Othello.

A western reworking of Othello, with the emphasis shifted to Cassio (Glenn Ford). Steiger is a memorably creepy Iago.

I love Jubal one of my favorite westerns. I have a nice 720p rip of it on one of my harddrives.

If you're ever looking for something new to read check out the author of the book, Paul Wellman. I've read a number of his historical novels (about Jim Bowie, Sam Houston, et al) and they're all very interesting.

I really liked The Hollow Crown on PBS Great Performances. It was Richard II, Henry IV Parts One and Two, and Henry V.
If forced to pick one though, it would either be Julius Caesar with Brando or Oliver's Richard III.
