Riverdale Christian Academy

A teacher from Riverdale Christian Academy in Baton Rouge was arrested for having sex with one of her high school students ON the school campus in the spring of 2014. The story is all over the web: LINK
The kid was a student at the school 2013-2014 but did not reenroll 2014-2015. The teacher had actually started teaching there again this school year (her 2nd year) when she was arrested. What kind of vetting process do they have at this Christian school? Sick woman. There are reportedly a number of discipline problems at this school. Had a bad fight the first day of school. Video of it was being shared among folks. The school is owned by Redeemer Baptist Church. This is a failure in leadership and oversight and the pastor, principal, church administrative officer and entire school board should resign. As a parent of a Riverdale student, this is heartbreaknig.

Did Riverdale fire your daddy when they took over Redeemer? Why are you so upset with this? When Parkview has a fight at school, do you question leadership? When Episcopal kicks a kid out for bringing cocaine to school, do you say the principal should be fired. When Dunham fires a coach for stealing money from the school, do you say the school board should resign?

Of course its not ok, but for you to call for multiple firings because of one person's mistakes is ridiculous. If the administration covered it up like a Penn St deal, that's a different story. A pastor and principle can't know that a woman with no history of this behavior is going to do this. They wouldn't hire her if it was obvious.

One of my co-workers son went to that school last year (or maybe the year before that.) He was one of those fundamentalist religious nuts that thought what he believed was 100% correct and everyone else was wrong and going straight to hell. From what I gathered, there were several parents or faculty a lot like him and he seemed to be constantly fueding with them. His son only made it one year at the school and then he pulled him to go to some other school. It all just seemed like a bunch of intolerable religious zealots that couldn't get along. No way I'd want to be a part of a group like that.
