Planning on boiling (heating up) snow crabs in my crawfish pot this evening. I have a 2.5 lb piece of a boston butt I was gonna try to cook in the seasoned water after the crabs. Good idea or bad? Times?

What are you trying to achieve by boiling it in crab water versus another more common cooking method?

not for me, but to each his own.
textured meat just doesn't go "with boiling", imo, unless into a pate or stew?

I eat the boiled brisket at Tujaques and when I make corned beef I boil mine because I've found the oven dries it out. Try it then shred and when you want a bit put in a skillet to crisp a bit and make tacos.
If you have a small one laying around and you have boiling seasoned water why not? You don't like you are out ten bucks. It's what cooking is all about.

You're already ruining the crab legs, so you might as well go ahead and ruin the pork too.
I kid, I kid. Sort of.

Let liquid cool then use as brine and/or injection prior to smoking

Somebody say boiled meat?
I have tried it with ribs (regular and country style) before hitting the grill. It can make the meat salty but spicy and tender. Boil it then hit it on the grill.

I did this with a brisket once. it was very good. I boiled it in my "crawfish" water after we finished boiling the crawfish and then I through it on the grill for 2 hours.

My mother loves a boiled boston butt; I only have it every couple of years when I'm around and she's cooked it. I dunno if the crab flavor will do much for a big solid hunk of BB...you may get some pepper & spice in the outer parts.
It makes for a nice cold summer supper. Boil early in the day, chill, pull off the fat & pull it into nice chunks. Make a few sauces--remoulade, horseradish, gribiche--and serve it with some chilled steamed asparagus and new potatoes (leave the skins on for color).

I steam king crab legs because they're already salty enough and I don't want all that water getting to them. Just want them heated, as you say in your post.
I don't usually eat snow crabs. They look hard to deal with. The legs are so thin. Do you like them better than king crab?

King crab is better IMHO, but snow crabs I can get for $8 a lb. We have crawfish boil type parties with them often, when crawfish are out of season. I season the water 1/2 of what I put for crawfish, boil all of the sides such as potatoes, onions, and garlic, then throw the crablegs in and cut the water off. soak 20 mins and theyre easy to peel. 2 pounds per person is usually plenty.

Bad idea. It is much better when boiled in Dr Pepper.
