He nailed all of his fantastic points... Positively spoke of responsibility, respecting the police, moral responsibility, ways to actually improve this country, fixing the problems in the black community, etc

best quote: "We've got to clean up our community so we can clean up the United States of America"

and

"nobody is going to help us if we don't help ourselves....Sittin around, feeling sorry for ourselves won't solve the problems, sitting around having ghetto pity parties, rather than organizing and strategizing and putting our differences aside."

I'd like your thoughts on this wonderful speech:

If I die, just put my dead body up in a bar, get drunk, and throw my dead body into a ditch.

People have been saying crap like this for decades yet they never actually put action behind those words. So, basically it's empty and worthless because he'll continue to profit from casting people as victims and cashing in on their grievances.

Take the time to cue it up. I am not going to listen to ten minutes of diatribe for a twenty second soundbyte that supports the OP.

Downvote.

I listened to the first two minutes. It was description of an assault by a state trooper in California and the choke hold death of the cigarette salesman in NYC. It referred to Congresswoman Maxine Waters (who was apparently in attendance). I tried to be fair to the OP but I am not going to listen to this drivel. If AS has changed his tune then I am willing to listen. I am looking for a constructive dialogue not more of the same.

I mean use the YouTube function that permits you to watch the pertinent part of the speech.

No, it was not. The opening segment is just a re-hashing of pretend grievances that are not woven together into coherent story line. He will complain about police brutality while excusing/ignoring the behavior of Michael Brown. This was not some noble, innocent youth that was gunned down in cold blood. He also conveniently ignores that the majority of murders of black are committed by blacks. Rubbish.

It wasn't a Eulogy, it was a Sharpton "look at me, as long as I'm around racism will be relevant to any story I deem"....Pathetic as Jackson asking for Donations.

I don't disagree, but still, it didn't sound like a different narrative to you ? Combined with the actual support from the audience ?

No. It is more hucksterism. Young men are dying on the streets daily and he is out hustling money over this tragic incident. It is sickening.

If you ever find yourself saying the following statement....

quote:

I just agreed with 100% of Al Sharpton

Then you need to reevaluate your stance immediately.
