If he isn't on the roster the start of the season, then his salary isn't guaranteed. They could bring him back once he's healthy.

Like the saying goes, "The best type of ability, is availability." I agree with Pat though, he could be brought back after that start of the season if still available.

I could see him signing for the vet min sometime mid season. Given how much time he's missed due to injury, I don't see any other team offering him more than that. Since he's familiar with Ryan's system, we' have to be his preferred destination (unless he's pissed about the release). That $1.5m isn't insignificant.

For anyone talking about him coming back, he has to go on IR(if he was cut due to injury which I imagine he was). Only way he gets off of that is if he is designated to return or he reaches an injury settlement.
Now if he wasn't cut due to injury then disregard. Either way this was definitely coming. Guys like Knox, Powell, Dawson, and even Edebali deserve a spot more than him.
